It appears that words and deeds of newly elected US President Donald Trump have induced racist Americans to attack immigrants in that country and those serving their nation with HI-B visas. There are also reports that border security officers and other immigration officials have been conducting long and unwarranted inquiries with even legal immigrants with an intention to harass them. It is alleged that all of this is happening with tacit support of the new government. It is time that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who has good relations with Trump takes up the case of the Indian immigrants and other
professionals and sought protection for their lives from such racial hooligans. It is also advisable that Indians in the US take utmost care and avoid any altercation with anyone particularly in the
public places.

Muslims not safe even in Pakistan
(The Hafiz Havoc, March 5); This refers to the front page story in Organiser titled ‘The Vertical Split’ by Santosh Verma in Organiser. The recent terrorist attack on the Sufi shrine in Pakistan is just another act of violence against the Shia community who in spite being
followers of Islam have been treated very badly by the majority Sunni community right from the time of creation of Pakistan. Dalai Lama had some time back very correctly said that Shia’s in India are much safer than in Pakistan and had advised them to come back to India and live safely and happily here. It was Sir Sayyed Ahmed who conceived the idea of a separate status and special privileges to Muslims in India; Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah ‘The Aga Khan’
advocated for a separation of Muslim majority provinces from India, in case of ‘Hindu India’ getting Independence and finally Jinnah who coined the Two Nation Theory claiming Muslims to be a separate nation and fought for and
succeeded in getting Pakistan for the Shia Muslims. It is really an irony of fate that these Shia leaders created a nation in which their own community is being treated so badly. Had Jinnah been alive today he might have bitterly regretted the creation of Pakistan. Had there been no Pakistan Shia’s in particular and all Muslims in general would have lived in peace and harmony in a united India.

Anti-national move must be checked The Ramjas College narrative has taken a direction that seeks to divert public attention from the core issue at hand: That of the spread of anti-nationalism by section of students (in educational campuses) patronised by not just the Left – liberals but also by elements who work for the disintegration of India. We saw this happen last year at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) when a bunch of students mingled with outsiders who brazenly called for the break-up of the country and freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from Indian sovereignty. Politicians of various non-BJP hues had visited the campus and lend their support to the erring students, and they justified their acts on the pretext that they were backing freedom of expression. It doesn”t matter to them that such freedom does not extend to calling for the nation’s destruction. We also witnessed a similar incident happen in Jadavpur University in Kolkata. The Ramjas College ruckus has its roots in an invite that a group of students from the college extended to the dubious Umar Khalid which is said to have been a participant in the JNU incident too .Khalid has never hidden his desire to disrupt Indian sovereignty over Kashmir and he has mingled with all sorts of characters who are working hard in that direction. The pro-azadi students and their patrons have also another agenda and i.e. to discredit the Modi Government by projecting it as anti-free speech and anti-youth (as they did in the Rohith Vemula case) or sharing the stage with the anti-nationals. Don’t blame ABVP, culprit is someone else
(All ill-designed plot falls flat again, March 12); Apropos to the article titled ‘All ill-designed plot falls flat again’ by Sandeep Singh in Organiser. One needs to commend the role that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has been playing active role in exposing the anti-nationals who are out to defame the country by targeting educational institutions. For decades, these elements have been operating unabated in our universities and polluting the minds of young minds. Infesting anti-national notions in the minds of students has been their key strategy. It is no secret that the ABVP was opposed to the idea of inviting JNU student Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid to address a seminar at the Ramjas College, which was
subsequently cancelled. However to put the blame on the ABVP for the protests that followed the next day with a lot of violence is misleading. Under the guise of ABVP many anti- social elements started the violence just to defame the ABVP. Persons involved in the violence must be nabbed and the law must take its course.

Forget the past differences
(Disruptive Victory, March 12); This refers to the article ‘Disruptive Victory’ by Dilip Chaware and Devidas Deshpande in Organiser. The just
concluded civic body elections in Maharashtra have come as a big boost for the BJP. However I feel that the voters of Mumbai have given a fractured
verdict in the civic bodies elections, with both the saffron parties getting almost equal seats, but neither has the required number to appoint its Mayor. Since the Shiv Sena won by just two seats, it has constitutional right to come forward. But the Shiv Sena has reservations against the latter. On the other hand it does not have the required number of seats to appoint its Mayor. It is catch-22 situation: have an interaction with its saffron
counterpart or to opt for its traditional bête noire, the Congress. If it opts for the Congress, it will have to face public ire. Moreover, it will also be suicidal for both the parties, as the Shiv Sena has shown its acrimony against north Indians in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh elections are still going on. Therefore for the betterment of the civic corporation, the Shiv Sena must forget its past
bitterness and re-align with the BJP.
