I asked a small merchant how he was feeling about Shri Modi’s plan of demonetisation. He said that he was feeling good as well as bad. I asked him how? He said that on one side he thinks that Modiji will do something good to us, but he also said that at present his income has gone down. I told him Modiji is doing good for all of us. It is fortunate for India that we have such a brilliant, courageous and honest Prime Minister who thinks for all. None of his family member has been made an MP, MLA or have exploited his position. In our national horizon there is no politician who is so honest, self-sacrificing and not only dedicated to India but to the world peace and human welfare. Shri Modi thinks for the poor. Swami Vivekananda, while meditating at the Kanyakumari Rock, realised that India became slave to foreign invaders  because the rich men and the rulers continued to lead luxurious life  amassing wealth and did not pay any heed to the miserable condition of the masses. Consequently, when the foreign conquerors attacked us, the masses had no strength left in them to fight and India became a slave. Shri Modi is deeply inspired by Swamiji, one of the most brilliant sons of India. He has himself seen the pangs of poverty very closely. So his heart melts for the weak and the poor. We are really grateful to God that such a noble person who really thinks for the weak and the poor is decorating the seat of PM. I told him that even if one whitewashes his house, a lot of inconvenience is caused.   But later on the house shines and everybody feels happy. The same thing will happen to our country.

A Wise Move

The decision of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to initiate a door-to-door screening programme for the early detection of cancer, heart disorders and diabetes, is welcome. This would evoke the same awareness and impact that the polio eradication programme which was launched way back in 1985 to cover every district of the country, did. It was grand success as the country was declared polio-free on World Polio Day in 2014. Likewise, if the new move to detect all the three Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) can be implemented effectively, it would certainly prevent many diseases. The programme which would be launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in February is commendable. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare needs to be applauded for the same. However, training and implementation of such a large -scale programme will be challenging. It is also important to ensure that the programme does not die down after the initial launch. What is more important is the successful implementation of the programme so that benefits flow to the remotest area of the country. Such a large scale of campaigning had reportedly never taken by the Government before. Kudos to Shri Narendra Modi for taking the initiative as this move of his would save 35 per cent of the population that dies from the NCDs. This move will save people from diseases like dengue, chikungunya, swine flu and the deadly encephalitis.

Owaisi is Ready to
Create Chaos
The Jallikattu episode has shown the way as to how to violate Supreme Court orders. No reform is ever going to take place in this country. Everybody is going to cite tradition as an excuse to defy Supreme Court orders. Owaisi is grinning and elated that Jallikattu has shown a path to all fundamentalists. Gather a massive crowd and any reform can be sabotaged. Now, if triple talaq is banned, be sure that Owaisi will mobilise lakhs and lakhs across the length and breadth of this country and create a civil war like situation. Muslim women are doomed and condemned
to live in perpetual fear of talaq
and burka.

Return of Kashmiri Pandits
The recent unanimous resolution passed by the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly to ensure the safe return of Kashmiri Pandits is welcome and that all the political parties showed rare unity and moved beyond affiliations to pass the resolution is commendable. With the Opposition’s support the onus now lies with the State Government to create a conducive atmosphere for their return .Indeed this is historic moment for the Pandits as resolution was long overdue and was neglected by the successive Governments over the years. It is now the responsibility of both the Union Government and the State to ensure normalcy in the troubled parts of Jammu & Kashmir – the focus should primarily be on those pockets where the Pandits lived before. The time has come for both the Governments to side line the fossilised separatist leaders who have worked for the Pakistani agenda for decades in the garb of State interests.

Crown Prince Nahyan’s visit will boost ties
(India, UAE message to Pak, February 5); Apropos to the article titled ‘India, UAE message to Pak’ in Organiser.  One of the key foreign policy successes of the Modi Government has been its outreach to the Gulf nations. Over the years, New Delhi has had formal cordiality with the countries in the region, but the warmth that is a half-mark of friendship, had been missing. This despite the fact that the oil-rich Gulf has been key to India’s economic progress. Besides, more than seven million Indians live and work there, with a vast majority of them based in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait. In this context, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed al Nahyan’s ongoing visit to India as chief guest for this year’s Republic Day function has more than a symbolic importance. This is so because as many as 13 or even more bilateral agreements are expected to be linked in the course of this trip. As the UAE envoy to India Ahmed Al Banna has said, trade relations between the two countries have jumped exponentially in the last two and a half years.

Meaningful Purpose
(Holding By Horn, January 22); This refers to the article titled ‘Holding By Horn’ by Venkatesan in Organiser. Jallikattu is an Indian traditional sport of Tamil Nadu which is a sport like any other traditional Indian sport of any other state of our country, such as ‘Kambala’ of south western Karnataka or ‘Bullock-Cart’ race of North Karnataka and Maharashtra. Any traditional Indian sport/event/festival connected to animals has certain meaningful purpose behind it and has to be reviewed from grass root level, for instance cow is revered on “Makar Sankranti’ festival and Ox (not Bull)is revered on ‘Pola’ festival. Perhaps Supreme Court has in haste given its nod for ban on Jallikattu . In this case, for instance,  “Jallikattu” is a means to identify and asses the credentials of the animal, if it finds to be good it is used for breeding or else it is utilised for domestic work. But why is government silent about horse race where drugs are injected in horses to improve their efficiency? They are even tortured for the same purpose. Is it because they earn income to the government? The only way out to end this controversy is to modify this game make certain restrictions to see that no cruelty is meted to the animal, at the same time players safety should also be  maintained. By doing so this traditional game can be kept alive.  Last but not least, this game can stop the slaughter of bulls, by preserving them for this purpose.

Dynasty Politics
Look at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. He was born with a golden spoon and has never lacked anything even though he cannot earn even a penny by the sweat of his brow. Just because of his birth, he has become the Prime Ministerial candidate of the Congress Party. The growth of family political parties is not good for our democracy. Thank God the BJP is largely free from this evil.

RSS 90 Transformative Years
(Selfless Saviours—Contribution of RSS During Partition, December 11); This refers to the article  ‘Selfless Saviours—Contribution of RSS during Partition’ by Shridhar Paradkar in the Special Issue of Organiser titled ‘RSS 90 Transformative Years’. After giving brief description of the selfless service done by the RSS during Partition days in 1947, three lessons to be learnt by Hindu society—“so that society does not have to encounter the same situation again”, have been
mentioned. I feel, that nobody has learnt any lesson from the horrible happenings during Partition, or are afraid of telling due to pressure of dirty anti-Hindu secularism. In fact there is only one lesson to be learnt, which will solve practically all the serious problems facing our country. The lesson is that we should accept “Two Nation Theory”.
