Jalandhar:  Scores of people from Jalandhar and other areas of Punjab paid tribute to the RSS Punjab Prant Sah Sanghachalak Brigadier (retd) Jagdish Gagneja on September 27. Gagnejaji had succumbed to the bullet injuries on September 22. He was shot by two unidentified bike-borne assailants in a busy market on August 6. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal also paid tribute.
Addressing the condolence meeting RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal said “The assassination of Brigadier Gagneja is unbearable loss not only for the Sangh but also for the entire country. Such incidents definitely cause pain, but cannot disappoint us. Punjab is a land of braves, martyrs and tapasvis. People at this land of Gurus live for others. The RSS is working for materialising the dream of a harmonious society. Many attempts have been made in the past also to disrupt these efforts. Our shakhas and the swayamsevaks have been attacked  violently many times in the past also. But we did not allow the harmony to be disrupted. Despite suffering such attacks Sangh will continue to work for its goal,” he said.
On this occasion Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured that the killers of Gagjenaji would be arrested and punished soon. He said, “I have directed the CBI for impartial investigation into the attack and hoped for the results soon. The Central Government is in touch with the State Government on this issue and the matter has been handed over to CBI on its recommendation .”
Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “Punjab has suffered so many onslaughts but never allowed the harmony to be disturbed. Today also we have to foil the game plans of the enemies”. He reminded that whenever he called on Gagnejaji he always thought for the society and the nation.
RSS Punjab Prant Sanghachalak Sardar Brijbhushan Singh Bedi hoped that the investigation into the assassination of Gagnejaji should not be politicised and the culprits would be punished sternly. RSS Uttar Kshetra Sanghachalak Dr Bajranglal Gupt, Union Minister Shri Vijay Sanpala, Prant Sanghachalak of J&K Brigadier (retd) Shri Suchet Singh, Haryana Prant Sanghachalak Major (retd) Kartar Singh, neighbour of the late Gagnejaji Col.
