Epigraphy: Epigraphy is a branch of science in the fields of computer and engineering or information technology. For those who are attracted by History, it can be a decent career choice. To uncover the knowledge of ancient civilizations and culture based on historical remains is loosely called epigraphy. Out of many branches of archaeology, epigraphy involves discovering the old manuscripts of forts, religious places and tombs. These manuscripts are copied on paper through photography or by scratching the ink. Then they are analysed to assemble the information. The information is presented in a collected form annually in “Indian Epigraphy Report”.
Eligibility: Post- Graduation in History.
Opportunities and Salary: ASI has different positions for Epigraphers in different languages of Sanskrit, Arabic, Telgu, Kannada, Tamil & Malayalam. Many states also have positions for epigraphers in their respective archaeology departments. Starting salary maybe between 40 to 50 thousands.
Institute: Punjab University (Chandigarh), Kurukshetra University (Haryana),  Banaras Hindu University, Jivaji University (Gwalior, MP), Andhra University, Avadesh Pratap Singh University (Rewa, MP), etc.
