He was speaking at the National Philosophers Day organised by Navodayam and Faith Foundation in association with Yuva Foundation and Global Society on the occasion of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti. RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Prachar Pramukh Shri J Nandakumar, Union Minister for Culture Dr Mahesh Sharma, Sadhvi Jaya Bharati from Divya Jyoti Jagriti Foundation, Swami Santoshanand and many other distinguished personalities were also present on the occasion.
“Darshan deals with ultimate knowledge and seeks always the truth behind the existence. Adi Shankaracharyaji has done so much for Sanatan Dharma in 32 years of his life. He was not just a theoretical philosopher, instead he was a Darshanik, who experienced truth of life and then disseminated the knowledge,” said Dr Krishna Gopal. Another important contribution of the Shankaracharya was the bhashya of Gita and 12 Upanishads at the very young age. He did that work at the time when nobody used to talk about Gita. He again brought it in the limelight. In merely 32 years he did the work which is equal to 300 years. We would be able to understand the eternal philosophy of that great philosopher if we shun the evils and dissemblance, he added.
Dr Mahesh Sharma said the celebration of this day as Philosophers Day would prove to be a milestone. Shri J Nandakumar stressed the need to acquaint the young generation with the Indian heritage and suggested to create an informal system for it.

CD released on Uttarakhand floods
New Delhi : A CD highlighting the sewa activities carried out by Sangh swayamsevaks during Uttarakhand floods was released on May 10. The CD, Badhate Jana Re highlights the sewa rendered by the swayamsevaks during the natural calamities. The 47 minutes CD has been produced by Uttaranchal Daiviya Apada Peedit Sahayat Samiti and Vishwa Samvad Kendra Dehradun. Releasing the CD BJP Rajya Sabha MP Shri RK Sinha said the work rendered by the swayamsevaks was very challenging and they did that with perfection. “Only the Sangh swayamsevaks can do such a work without government help. I salute the courage of the swaymsevaks,” he said. Dr Virendra Singh Negi, associate professor in Delhi University, Smt Gita Bhata, associate professor, Shri Madan Singh Chauhan, general secretary of Uttaranchal Daiviya Apada Peedit Sahayat Samiti were also present on the occasion. n
Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas stresses on rethink over NEET
New Delhi: Describing the Supreme Court directive on National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for MBBS/BDS courses as “biased and discriminatory” the Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister JP Nadha to rethink over the arbitrary decision of Court.
“The court judgement fails to consider the bias it created against students from regional medium and rural areas. It basically created a bar for students studied in regional language medium by compelling them to appear for entrance examination in either English or Hindi language. Thereby it ousts a large section of students from states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and West Bengal. Therefore, the provisions should be made to conduct the NEET examination in Indian languages,” said secretary of the Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas Shri Atul Kothari in the letter. addressed to Prime Minister. n

The Sacred Oneness of a Rashtra
New Delhi: “The Western notion of a Nation is about you and me, but Rashtra talks about the way to sacred oneness,” said RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal while speaking at a function organised by Group of Intellectuals and Academicians (GIA), a forum for socially committed professional women in Delhi. Elaborating on the concept of nation, he said the western concept was built for political supremacy and commercial, economic acquisitiveness (greed to exploit the other). The state became narrow entity for control. He said India is perhaps the only country in the world that has not colonised, enslaved, exploited nor conquered any nation. He said the nation in India has the same cultural foundations, beliefs, shared sacred geography, customs and much more, providing a feeling of oneness, in spite of great distances and adaptations to local environments.
Taking the theme forward Supreme Court advocate Monika Arora explained that the season of spring is observed all through the country. In Punjab it is Baisakhi, in Assam it is Bohaag Bihu, in Maharashatra it is Gudi Padwa, in Andhra Pradesh it is Ugadi, in Bengal it is Poila Baisakh, in Kerala it is Vishu and in entire northern India it is the time for Navratri. These cultural festivities have been the binding force of the larger Indian Nation, which dates back to centuries, she said.
Akhil Bharatiya Mahila Samanvya Pramukh Geetatai Gunde applauded the GIA for getting women out of their narrow circles to discuss and debate pertinent national and international issues, and also actively take on leadership role in framing the social discourse. “Many social groups which consist of women discuss only women related issue but GIA has come out of this stereotype trend. These women are analysing developments and participating in nation building. Women should not just ask for their rights, they should also participate equally in every sphere of society,” she said.

Swayamsevaks distribute fodder to farmers
Hubballi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh workers distributed nearly 65 tonnes of cattle fodder at different drought hit villages of Northern Karnataka on May 6 as a part of the drought relief campaign. Prant Sahkaryavah Sridhar Nadgir distributed the fodder to farmers at Kundagola. Karnataka Uttar Prant Sah Sanghachalak Shri Aravinda Rao Deshapande and Karnataka Uttara Prant Sah Karyavah Sridhar Nadgir visited few villages along with other local functionaries and joined the RSS teams distributing fodder. “So far we have distributed nearly 65 tonnes of fodder in six districts of northern Karnataka. It will serve nearly 2,500 cows. Through RSS relief campaign we could reach almost 1/3rd of farmers of these 6 districts” said Sridhar Nadgir. Hadalagi Village of Alanda Taluk of Gulbarga District, Bharamakhodi Village of Athani Taluk of Belagavi District, Kodliwada Village of Kundagola Taluk in Dharwad District, Chikli, Matkhed, Dabka and Ganeshpur villages of Aurad Taluk, few villages of Bhalki and Basavakalyana Taluk of Bidar District were among the villages where fodder was distributed.

rehabilitation schemes for 1984 riot victims
New Delhi: Rashtriya Sikh Sangat welcomed the rehabilitation scheme announced by Union Home Ministry for rehabilitation of 1984 riot victims. The Home Minister Rajnath Singh cleared the reopening of the scheme for 1,020 families, which will also give a grant Rs 2 lakh to each family that was displaced during the riots and took refuge in Punjab. The Ministry has also written to the Punjab government and the Ministry of Skill Development to come up with a plan to help members of these families gain employment by upgrading their expertise. A delegation of the Sikh Sangat had called on Home Minister on October 20, 2014 requesting him to constitute SIT for investigation. The SIT was constituted under the chairmanship of Justice Mathur. n
Devastation in Chakma Villages due to floods
Imphal: Widespread devastation was caused in Chakma villages of Arunachal in the cyclone and floods that hit the State on April 28 rendering thousands of people homeless and killing two teenagers. Property worth crores of rupees including orchards, standing crops and livestokes were destroyed. Even though the local administration and voluntray organisations have provided some relief to the victims, much needs to be done. n
RSS Second year camp ends at Puducherry
Puducherry: Second year RSS Sangha Shiksha Varga of Tamil Nadu concluded in Puducherry on May 6. Local businessman Shri Perumal Rengaraj presided over the function. State organiser of Indian Republic Party Shri SKC Gajendran was also present. State Organiser of Public Relations Shri S Viswanathan also spoke. Vargadhikari Shri Selvaraj, Madurai Vibhag Sanghachalak Shri Ramakrishnan Ji, Dakshin Kshetra Pracharak Shri Sthanumaalayan and Dakshin Tamilnadu Prant Karyavah Shri Adalarasan were also present.
