News Round-up : Book on Tamil Scholars released in Chennai

A book in Tamil, Thamizhar Puthakangal—Or Arimugam which is a compilation of articles of great Tamil scholars, was released in Chennai on February 1. The book, published by Vijayabharatham Pathipagam, was released by Shri Komal Anbarasan, CEO of Makkal TV. The first copy was was presented to the Sahitya Akademi award winner and president of Samskrita Bharati, Tamil Nadu Shri Joe D Cruz. Shri Sadagopan, RSS Prant Prachar Pramukh, was also present. The function was presided over by Shri Nagasamy, former VC of Sankara University. Shri Komal Anbarasan, Shri Pu Prakasam, Shri Semmozhi Thamizhaaivu Niruvanam, Shri Baskaran Krishnamurthy and author of the book Shri Dravida Maayai were also present.     (VSK Chennai)


 PM to inaugurate Vidya Bharati conference in Delhi

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate a three-day national conference of Vidya’s Bharati’s senior secondary school principals at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on February 12. Rest  of the sessions of the conference will be conducted at Mahashaya Chunilal Saraswati Bal Mandir, Harinagar till February 14. HRD Minister Smriti Irani, Vidya Bharati patron Shri Brahmdev Sharma ‘Bhaiji’ and Vidya Bharati national president Dr Govind Prasad Sharma will also share the dais with the Prime Minister at inaugural session.
According to Shri Shiv Kumar, national secretary of Vidya Bharati, the organisation runs a total of 12,363 schools all over the country. About 1,200 of them are senior secondary schools. About 1.35 lakh teachers teach around 32 lakh students in all the schools. The theme of the conference is ‘Role of Principals in Social and Academic Scenario’. “We want the role of teachers in academic and social context should be more active. Since principals are the key persons who look after all affairs in educational institutions, their empowerment is must. Although, we continue to organise training camps for them at State, district or national level, we realised the need to organise a national level exclusive convention to update them with the changing needs of education sector and also to gather their suggestions for new Education Policy for the country. Leading educationists who have specialised on different aspects of education have been invited for deliberations. It will help us get the required input to develop the future generation that we desire to
develop through our schools,” said Shri Shiv Kumar. —Organiser Bureau


ABVP protest in DU against dirty

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a protest in Delhi University against the vicious attempts by the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to vitiate the atmosphere of university campuse by his dirty caste politics in the aftermath of unfortunate suicide by a research scholar in the University of Hyderabad. Students from various colleges of Delhi University gathered outside Arts Faculty and shouted slogans against Rahul Gandhi for creating a wedge between students from different castes. Addressing the students, Delhi State secretary of ABVP Saket Bahuguna said it is unfortunate that the country lost a brilliant research scholar Rohith Vemulla, who wanted to become a writer, but committed suicide due to violent thoughts filled in his mind by violent ultra-Left activists of ASA and Left outfits.

Tribute to Jagdish Pal

Senior Sanskar Bharati worker Jagdish Pal passed away on January 22 following illness. He was 80. He is survived by two sons and their children. Despite having his family he was dedicated to the Sanskar Bharati work like a full time worker. For some time he also looked after the work of Vidya Bharati. He was among the founder members of Sanskar Bharati. He was member of Sanskar Bharati core committee since 1989. He held the responsibility of Sanskar Bharati general secretary in 1991. He worked as full-timer for Sanskar Bharati in 1992 after taking VRS from the post of Principal. He became Akhil Bharatiya Prashikshan Pramukh in 2003 and held the responsibility till he breathed his last. He also expanded the Sanskar Bhartai work in many other countries of the world.

Meals to patients at no profit no loss basis by Sewa Bharati

Jaipur unit of Sewa Bharati launched a project in Jaipur on January 30 to provide meals to the patients of mental hospital run at Sethi Colony. Apart from patients, their attendants will also be provided meals at just Rs 10 per person. Earlier the Sewa Bharati used to provide dry rice, dal and flour to the patients, but people faced the problem of cooking that dry meal. Therefore, the decision was taken to provide cooked food at no profit no loss basis. The project was formally launched by Health Minister of Rajasthan Shri Rajendra Singh Rathore. State BJP president Shri Ashok Parnami, Principal of SMS Medical College Dr US Agrawal, businessman Shri Mahendra Derawala and Sewa Bharati leaders were also present on the occasion. It is third of its kind project run by Sewa Bharati in Rajasthan. Two other projects are run in Bikaner and Ajmer.


 ‘Saksham’ conducts leprosy eradication
campaign

Jaipur unit of Saksham, a leading organisation dedicated to the cause of differently-abled people, organised a leprosy eradication campaign in Jaipur to educate people about various aspect related to the disease. Under the campaign, a function was organised in Jaipur. Dr Gajanand Ojha apprised the people about some facts about the disease. Senior leader of Saksham Shri Kamlakant Pandey also addressed the participants.  Dr Pankaj Jain was felicitated on the occasion for conducting successful operations for cancer. Co-convener of Saksham Shri Rajesh Chedwal apprised the audience of the activities being conducted by the organisation for eradication of blindness. It is to be noted that Saksham is working for making Bharat free from blindness by the

 Book on RSS founder Dr Hedgewar

Smruti Mandaara, a Kannada book on RSS founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar was released in Bengaluru on January 18. RSS Kshetra Sanghachalak Shri V Nagaraj released the book. Kshetra Pracharak Shri Shyam Kumar, Prant Sanghachalak Shri M Venkataram, author of the book and veteran Pracharak Shri Chandrashekar Bhandari were also present in the function. The book costs Rs 200. The book has been published by Sahitya Sangama, Bengaluru.
