The Government of Bharat and Naga militant group National Socialist Council of Nagaland in August inked the historic Nagaland peace accord to end insurgency in the north-eastern state.

Bharat-Africa summit:
The India-Africa Forum Summit was a feather in the cap of the government and in particular for the Ministry of External Affairs.

Climate agreement
At the end of the year, world leaders reached a landmark agreement on climate change at a massive summit in Paris. Nearly 200 countries agreed to a long-term goal of keeping global warming below 2 degrees Celsius.

Bharat-Bangladesh land-swap agreement
Bharat and Bangladesh in August this year signed a historic land swap agreement as part of which 111 Indian enclaves in Bangladesh and 51 Bangladeshi enclaves in Bharat were exchanged in pursuant to the 1974 Land Boundary Agreement and 2011 Protocol.

Bharat and Iran signed an agreement on May 7 which would allow Bharat to develop the Port of Chabahar. The deal was signed during Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari’s Iran visit.

“Bharat Ratna”
Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Madan Mohan Malaviya was conferred with the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honour.

Birth of a new capital: Amaravati
Amaravati would be the new capital of the divided Andhra Pradesh. The foundation stone-laying of the new capital was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 22. The new capital is coming up on the southern banks of the River Krishna in Guntur and Krishna districts.

24 October: Ministry of Defence approved the induction of women as combat pilots in the Indian Air Force

Digital India : Launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and Digital India, the major initiative started by PM Modi to make Bharat clean and digital.

Syria’s descent into conflict has resulted in the deaths of more than 2,20,000 people, with millions displaced from their homes.

Bigg Loss for the Nation

  • Ashok Singhal, the ultimate unifier of Hindu society passed away on November 17. He will be remembered for his extraordinary organisational skills.
  • Famous Bharateeya cartoonist RK Laxman passed away on Januray 26, will be remembered for his Common Man sketches.
  • Swami Dayananda Saraswati, a teacher of Vedas and Upanishads, passed away in Rishikesh on October 30.
  • Dr Abdul kalam, with his Divine touch, ignited millions of Minds through his actions and words passed away on July 17.

Proud Moment

  • June 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has led thousands in a mass yoga programme in the capital, Delhi, on the first ever International Yoga Day.
  • September 28: PSLV C-30 successfully launched ASTROSAT into the orbit.

Paris Terror Attack: At least 129 people died after a series of violent incidents around Paris, France, on November 13, 2015.
Yemen Crisis: About 4,640 Bharateeya and 960 nationals from 41 other countries were evacuated by Government of Bharat.
Nepal earthquake: A massive earthquake hit Nepal on April 25, killed nearly 4000 people.

Niti Aayog, established to replace Planning Commission of Bharat. It will emerge as a “think-tank” that will provide Governments at the central and state levels with relevant strategic and technical advice across the spectrum of key elements of policy.

Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, launched by PM Modi in August, was recognised for opening the most bank accounts—about 1.80 crore— in one week as part of the financial inclusion campaign.

Operation All Out: Bharateeya Army big achievement. Army entered in Myanmar to hit Naga militants.
