Obituary : Madhukar Limaye passes away
The senior most Sangh Pracharak of Assam Madhukar Vishwanath Limaye, fondly known as ‘Madhuji’ passed away at a ripe age of 91 in Mumbai on Novemebr 4. He was at the RSS Mumbai Karyalaya situated at Lower Parel where he breathed his last at around 2 pm. His last rites were performed at Dadar the same evening.
Madhukar Limaye came in RSS contact at a very tender age when he was living in Girgaum in Mumbai. After completing M Sc with first division from Mumbai University in 1948 he devoted himself as Sangh Pracharak and was assigned to work in Palghar Taluka. Later in 1950s, he was sent to Assam for strengthening Sangh work in north-east. Since then, Assam became his first home. He spent over six decades in Assam spreading Sangh work in remotest corners and areas in that sensitive region.
Madhukarji had good command over Marathi, Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Bengali and Assamese languages. He was a very sensitive writer and a gifted poet. His book Khatti-Mithi Baante in Hindi is famous for his reminiscences of social life. The Uttar Pradesh Government had felicitated him with a literary award at the hands of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. “My Home India” had also honoured him with the prestigious “One India Award” in recognition to his services and contribution for the north-eastern region and its people.
Limayeji was sent to Assam at a very critical period. The region was geographically very inaccessible and emotionally far away from the mainland. He went there to start RSS work against the background of 1948 ban on RSS. He began his mission from Nowgaon in Assam in a extremely adverse conditions.
He travelled the region extensively using all modes of transport, bicycle being his most favourite in the early days. With his humility and sweet tongue he influenced many intellectuals in Assam and brought them in the wider compass of Hindutva ideology of RSS. Starting from a smaller place like Nowgaon he rose to the level of Vibhag Pracharak, Bouddhik Pramukh, Sah Prant Pracharak and Kshetra Pracharak Pramukh in north-eastern region. He played a pivotal role in starting Assamese weekly Alok from Guwahati to spread Hindutva ideology.

Narain Kataria who fought for Bharat and justice for Hindus passed away during sleep in New York on November 4. He was president of Indian American Intellectual Forum and has written hundreds of blogs, some books, etc. focused on educating Hindus on Muslim extremism and Hindu human rights violations. He hosted several prominent dignitaries in the US and was one of the rare and bravest American Hindu history has ever seen. His press releases, communications, educated thousands of Hindus across the globe and made them aware of social and political atrocities they face.
Even to the last minute he was fighting for justice for Hindus. He gave an interview to ITV on the one sided reports of intolerance in media with no report about the Hindus being killed the day before and went home at 9:30 pm. It is not what he did as much as how he did, treating everyone with respect, with sensitivity and hurting no one’s feelings and completely honest in his interactions. He was one human being we can all be proud of.
Through the Forum he organised 19 annual Hindu Unity Days in New York. He was also a member of the Governing Council of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America and Organising Secretary of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh for New York State. He was living in New York for the last 42 years. After retirement from a prominent Law Firm in New York in 1998, he worked round the clock for the Hindu causes.
