Opinion : Dirty Yet Holier Than Thou

A former law minister and current MLA absconded like a criminal, he was wanted under the section(s) 307 (attempt to murder), 420 (cheating and dishonesty), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 417 (punishment for cheating), 313 (causing miscarriage without woman’s consent), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt), 498a (husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation). For Somnath Bharti, the blow wasn’t over until AAP supremo and Delhi CM made a statement on Twitter. Kejriwal tagged Bharti as a cause of shame for the party, but at the same time-forgot those frequent instances where he himself been an embarrassment for Delhi and its people at large. Perhaps, ‘people’s CM’ as he likes to be called, found a ‘name & shame’ statement a better option over the prospects of sacking Bharti in his capacity of being an AAP legislator.
Swati Maliwal, the recent Kejriwal appointed DCW (Delhi Commission of Women) chief seems to have gone into exile over the case. This case is witnessing not a single contribution from her end, and this perhaps also questions the worthiness of Kejriwal’s pawns in positions of enormous importance and responsibility. This entanglement with law is not very new for the Bharti, who earlier as well-has been alleged of molestation by women of foreign nationality. Maybe, this is not very new for the party too, as for it-running frequently in conflict with law has become a fashion and publicity statement. Usually, a squad of AAP legislators can be found spreading lawlessness and breaking laws every now and then. The journey that began with the media-excess Ashutosh ganging up to pelt stones at BJP headquarters has become a neat perpetual phenomenon ever since. AAP MLA from Delhi Cantt, Commando Surender has already suffered an arrest over physically assaulting and man handling a worker from NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Corporation). Lest to forget the famous case of fabricated degree by then AAP Cabinet Law Minister-Jitendra Singh Tomar.
As he failed to give a common name of H20 (water) and NaCl (salt) and then citing “all chemistry is one chemistry” after being a ‘supposed’ chemistry graduate, only then the ruling AAP party in Delhi loosened its strong backing on the academic claims of Tomar.
Later in June this year, AAP MLA from Kondli-Manoj Kumar was arrested for formulating his own model of land acquisition-by using fraud and cheating to grab it. His assistant Deepak Sharma has also been arrested and is named in ‘17’ FIRs on the charges of criminal extortion.
When a farmer was hung merely 30 meters away from him, Kejriwal chose to continue with his cunning politics. For endless power, this party had already killed its conscience, and then they they also proved that a human life is cheap for costly political ambitions.
Indeed, the party has become brazen shameless. Public was duped off the claims of Party having an internal ‘Lokpal’ that would supposedly examine these criminal cases internally. There’s no significant party-action taken against the said law breakers, who today are acting in the capacity of lawmakers. Public money worth 526 crore is satisfying the vanity of Aam Aadmi Party and Kejriwal, instead of being spent on 15 lakhs camera and 500 new schools 20 new colleges, and of course free wifi. Delhi is waiting for its chance to be made-by-Kejriwal, who nevertheless finds the grapes sour on sound success of ‘Make-in-India’. Ultimately, they claim to be holier than thou, despite being dirty in the mud tossed upon themselves, by themselves.                        -Divyansh Dev
