The two RSS swayamsevaks, Shri Vistaraks Akshay Debnath and Shri Rupamoy Biswas, who were illegally detained by the CPM MLA Tapal Das and later got released by the help of Tripura Police, were extended heroic welcome by local swayamsewaks at Karimganj Railway Station in Assam on July 10 evening. Both these Vistaraks are from Hailakandi District of Assam. “This is an act of hate politics by Communist leaders”, said Sangh workers. They were received by offering garlands at the railways station.
Rajju Bhaiya remembered
Fourth RSS Sarsanghachalak Prof Rajendra Singh, who was affectionately called Rajju Bhaiya, was remembered on his death anniversary on July 14. Born on January 29, 1922, Rajju Bhaiya was a professor at Allahabad University before becoming Sangh Pracharak. He became Sarsanghacha-lak on March 11, 1994 when the then Sarsanghachalak Shri Bala Saheb Deoras handed over him the reign of the organisation due to illness. His contribution to nation building was recalled on July 14 throughout
the country.
Mass marriage in Siliguri by Kalyan Ashram
Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram recently organised mass marriage at Salibari near Siliguri in North Bengal where 101 couples got married. All the couples came along with their relatives, family members and the villagers. All the rituals were conducted with complete sanctity. After rituals, the couples visited temple and had blessings of the elders. Such functions were also organised in Guwahati where 19 couples got married. The people working in tea garden of Assam, Tripura and West Bengal live under poverty. In such situation organising wedding ceremony becomes difficult for them. Therefore, many youth prefer the short cut i.e. Gandharva Vivah for wedding. But in this process they get cut from the society.
Swayamsevaks learn fire fighting at fire station
The Sangh swayamsevaks from Tiptur under Tumakuru District of Karnataka learnt basic skills needed for fire-fighting during emergency and also carrying out the rescue operation by visiting local Fire Station on July 12. A team of swayamsevaks visited the local Fire Station early morning. Officers welcomed them and explained as well as demonstrated basic works associated with fire rescue operations. Officers also explained the skills needed in firefighting technology and safety measures of the firefighter-rescuer and related emergency medical services. The swayamsevaks learned prevention, self-preservation, rescue, preservation of property, basic first aid, fire control, size-up, extinguishing, ventilation, salvage and overhaul. The fire officers appreciated the initiative by Swayamsevaks and said they can perform better if they receive cooperation from the general public. The swayamsevaks also assured full support to the fire officers.
Ill-treatment of women and low caste

“The ill-treatment to women and the so-called lower caste people in the name of culture and traditions is wrong. Behaving unjustly with women in the name of religious scriptures is totally wrong,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while releasing a book, Paritapt Lankeshwar, written by Goa Governor Smt Mridula Sinha in Bhopal on July 11. Lok Sabha Speaker Smt Sumitra Mahajan and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were also present on the occasion.
“I have seen women being treated badly. Even big personalities are seen behaving unjustly with the women in the name of religious scriptures, which is wrong. They never understand the real meaning of the scriptures. Neither anyone reads them thoroughly nor do they try to understand the real meaning.
People should change themselves. We have to maintain our limits, while behaving with the women. Had Ravan listened to his wife Mandodari, he would have avoided being branded as a villain. Men should read about Mandodari, wife of Ravan, to understand her importance in life,” Shri Bhagwat said.
The RSS Sarsanghachalak urged the people, especially the men, to read the book to know about the importance of Mandodari. Smt Mridula Sinha explained why she chose to write on Mandodari’s character. The book has been published by Prabhat Prakashan.
Smt Sumitra Mahajan said the book tells that Mandodari, despite being Ravan’s wife, sympathised with Sita whom he had abducted. It shows Mandodari’s humble character. Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Smt Mridula Sinha should now write on another lesser-known character from Ramayan, Laxman’s wife Urmila, because not many people know about her life and sacrifices.
Grahak Panchayat Petitions to TN Govt. on Maggi fallout
In a petition to the State government, the Tamil Nadu unit of Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat has appealed to the State government to conduct frequent surprise checks on food products including cold drinks, beverages etc. not only in small retails stores but also in prominent food manufacturing units, distributing and departmental stores. The petition, signed by over 500 people, was sent in the wake of the raging Maggi controversy. The Grahak Panchayat also appealed to the government to inspect the packaged food items frequently. The petition also talks about openning a common online helpline platform for lodging complaints on food adulteration, violation of Packa-ged Commodities Act, false labelling and MRP violations. Save the cow, save the nation—Ashok Singhal
VHP patron Shri Ashok Singhal stressed the need of countrywide ban on cow slaughter and said it must be excuted for the all-round development of the country. He said the law to ban cow slaughter should be enacted at the earliest. He was speaking at a function organised in Delhi recently. He said Goushalas all over the country should be made self-reliant by promoting bio gas, organic manure, etc. President of Gosadan, Shri Rakesh Gupta informed that there are about 4,000 cows at the Gosadan. Mayor of North Delhi Municipal Corporation Shri Ravindra Gupta and Standing Committee Chairman Shri Mohan Bhardwaj appealed to the Corporators of Delhi to help the Goushalas. Senior Sangh Pracharak Shri Prem Chand Goel was also present on the occasion.
