A week long training camp of Durga Vahini, the women wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, concluded in Delhi on June 7. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Sushri Meenakshi Tai, national convener of Matrishakti and central secretary of VHP, applauded the role of Durga Vahini in protecting the dignity and self-respect of women. She said at the time when crimes against women are crossing limits the Durga Vahini workers need to work harder. Regional convener of Durga Vahini Smt Malti said if Bharat has to become strong, it direly needs empowerment of women. The feeling of security, sewa and sanskar that has been inculcated by Durga Vahini among women will prove a milestone in rasing self-confidence of the country. Delhi Prant convener Smt Sanjna Chaudhary said a total of 113 girls underwent training in the camp organised in Shri Radha Krishna Vidyalaya Nieketan School in Pushp Vihar. The prominent topics discussed during the camp included ideal Hindu family, cow protection, love jehad, jehadi terrorism, social evils and their eradication, ideal women, adolescent issues, swadeshi, personality development, etc. n
Twenty second Bhaurao Deoras Memorial Lecture was organised in Lucknow on May 31. Topic of the lecture was ‘Pt Deendayal’s views on Nation’. Delivering the lecture senior BJP leader Dr MM Joshi said there is no difference between State and nation in the west. State is a man made system while nation is not man made, but created by the nature. If we accept the notion of the West then Uttar Pradesh should be a separate nation. Therefore, State cannot be the synonymous of nation. Uttar Pradesh Governor Shri Ram Naik described Deendayalji as a Karmayogi who gave a new vision to the nation. n
RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat expressed his deep condolence on the demise of renowned spiritual leader Sadguru Kandukuru Sivananda Murthy who passed away in Warangal in Telangana in the early morning of June 10 at Gurudham Ashram. He was 87. Sivananda Murthy has a wide following among Telugu diaspora. Also, he had built two ashrams at Visakhapatnam and Warangal respectively, where his mortal remains were kept for the followers to pay their last tributes. Born on December 21, 1928 at Rajahmundry in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, the veteran guru was awarded an honorary doctorate by Andhra Pradesh University in recognition of his services. He founded the Sivananda Cultural Trust, Andhra Music Academy and Sivanandamurthy’s Ashram in Bheemli, Vishakhapatnam. He later shifted to Warangal.
In their joint condolence message, Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi, Sahsarkaryavah Shri V Bhagaiah said, “He was a Yogeshwar of modern age who guided entire Hindu society to protect Hindu Dharma and Hindu Samaj. In entire Bharat he brought cultural renaissance in intellectual society. He motivated all to work and serve the society. From Shri Guruji’s time he was a swayamsevak guiding all of us till recently. He toured Assam to awaken North-East and to protect the integrity of the country. He was a moving figure who awakened the Hindu society with real Dharmic values.”
Hindu Munnani urged Tamil Nadu Government to handover the control of Hindu religious places to independent Trusts. The trusts must ensure that revenue generated from these places are solely utilised to develop the temples. The Hindu Munnani also demanded scrapping of darshan fees in all temples. The demand figured among the 14 resolutions passed during the seventh State-level conference and centenary anniversary celebration of Thanulinga Nadar, one of the first Presidents of the organisation, in Coimbatore on June 7.
The conference also demanded legislation to prevent smuggling of cattle, condemned the demolishing of the Hindu places of worship for road construction and sought making Tamil medium of education mandatory till Class V. Addressing the conference, Hindu Munnani founder Ramagopalan said the Hindu leaders must always travel in a group as a precautionary measure. RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale hoped that the Ram Temple would be constructed in Ayodhya at the earliest.

“Sanskrit develops positivity, dedication and values in life. That is why it should be made a language of the masses,” said Shri Chamu Krishna Shastry, Akhil Bharatiya Prashikshan Pramukh of Sanskrit Bharati while speaking at the concluding ceremony of a training camp in Delhi on June 3. The residential camp was organised by the Sanskrit Bharati from May 23 to June 3 at the RSS Gita Vidyalaya, Sultanpuri in Delhi. Prof Hareram Tripathi, president of Sanskrit Bharati Delhi, stressed the need to preserve the rich literature available in Sanskrit and which is vanishing due to negligence. A total of 47 people from Sultanpuri underwent training at the camp. Sanskrit Bharati has been conducting such camps in different localities for the last 30 years. If lakhs of people could speak Sanskrit today it is due to the tremendous contribution of such camps. Vice Chancellor of Lalbahadur Shastri Vidyapeeth Prof Ramesh Pandey applauded the efforts of Sanskrit Bharati in propagation of Sanskrit. Dr Chandkiran Saluja, national president of Sanskrit Bharati also guided the trainees. On June 2, a procession was also organised in Sewa Bastis of Sultanpuri.
Grahapravesh ceremony of a new building built for Sewa Bharati, Vijayabharatham, Samskrit Bharati and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad was organised in Chennai on June 7. The building, named as ‘Seva’, was inaugurated by the Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh Shri K Suryanarayan Rao. Addressing the gathering on the occasion Shri Rao said usually for any organisation, place of work and other facilities are looked into first. But the Sangh inspired organisations do sewa karya first, establish themselves and then settle at one place. Organising secretary of Samskrit Bharati Shri Dinesh, Shri Lakshmanan and Shri Subbaiah of the ABVP, Shri Sundaralakshmanan of Rashtraiya Sewa Bharati, Prant Sewa Pramukh Shri Ramarajasekar, editor of Vijaybharatham Shri Veerabahu, Prant Karyavah Shri Sambamurthy, Prant Pracharak Shri P M Ravikumar were also present.
