Sri M, the head of Satsang Foundation, spiritual guide, social reformer and academician inaugurated the operations office of Sri Lakshmi Bai Dharma Prakasan (SDP), a publishing house meant for publishing Hindu philosophies, spiritual works, epics, etc. and marketing them at low prices on February 10 in Kochi. Sri M was in Kochi as part of his padyatra (foot pilgrimage) from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. His yatra has been named “walk of hope” (prathyashayude yatra in Malayalam) and his traverse covered 6,500 kms before reaching Kashmir.
SDP has been launched with former Akhil Bharatiya Boudhik Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Shri R Hari and veteran RSS Pracharak Shri AV Bhaskar as patrons. Kannur Vibhag Sanghchalak of RSS Adv CK Sreenivasan, former Vibhag Pracharak Shri UP Rajagopal and Chairman of Coimbatore Arya Vaidya Pharmacy Dr PR Krishnakumar are the trustees.
Sri M inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. He explained the goals he wanted to achieve through his spiritual path. Lack of role models for the process of personal growth and lack of source of inspiration make the younger generation addicted to various intoxications. We need our culture and literature for overcoming this fiasco. Sri M congratulated SDP for the steps it is taking in this direction. Adv CK Sreenivasan welcomed the gathering. Dr PR Krishna Kumar presided over the meeting. Kerala Prant Sanghachalak PEB Menon and renowned poet S Ramesan Nair spoke on the occasion.
Later on Sri M addressed a religious parliament which was inaugurated by Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, Archbishop of Syro Malabar Church. Cardinal said that India’s paradigm of unity is a model for the whole world. Europe is in the midst of disharmony. It is from India that the world receives the message of unity. Every society has got a mission. India’s mission is to unify the world.

CPM-Muslim Showdown in Nadapuram

Although the CPM will swear on Karl Marx and Das Kapital, the fact remains that the CPM is basically a Hindu party in Kerala. Especially, in Malabar, in North Kerala, Hindus support it against arrogance, money and muscle power of the Muslims and the reason for murder politics against RSS in Kannur, since both appeal to the same populance. Nadapuram, in Kozhikode district has been the scene of CPM-Muslim confrontation for almost two decades. A few years back, CPM laid siege on an island dominated by Muslims, and they had to go without food and water, for days together. CPM-Muslim clashes have been going on in Thuneri in Nadapuram for almost three months. On January 22, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activist Shibin Bhaskaran was butchered to death by Muslim League cadres. Seven others also substained serious injuries. In retaliation CPM torched almost 70 Muslim houses, damaged their property and burnt their vehicles. Several Muslims were also injured in the attack. The Congress and Muslim League are working overtime to hush up the matter. To placate the CPM and the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy handed over 25 lakh to the family of Shibin.
The BJP observed a hartal on the day the CM visited Thuneri. They alleged that the 25 lakh compensation was a ploy to allot crores of rupees to Muslims, for rebuilding of their burnt houses and replacement of destroyed property and vehicles. While Muslims get the lion’s share, the Hindus get the ant’s share.
—S Chandrasekhar from Thiruvananthapuram
