Sethu Govindan, a RSS swayamsevak and a software engineer of Bengaluru, was on his way to meet his relatives at Pandalam in Kerala. He was travelling by Ernakulam-bound Bengaluru City-Ernakulam Intercity Express on February 13 morning. Unfortunately, the train got derailed near Anekal, the outskirts of Bengaluru. Ten passengers died and hundreds were injured.
Several passengers Including Sethu Govindan rushed for rescue. Sethu also informed the local swayamsevaks, they arrived immediately and joined the rescue operation. More than 50 swayamsevaks also donated blood for the injured passengers. The swayamsevaks also helped the local Police, Government officials in the rescue operation. RSS Prant Sanghachalak Shri M Venkataram expressed deep condolences to those died in the accident.
The shakti of ‘Gatnayaks’
On February 15, about 528 families numbering 1,225 in Chennai converged at ‘Shakti’ the State headquarters of the RSS. The families consisting men, women and children individually met Sangh adhikaris, had a chit-chat and received guidance on questions arising in their minds. The Sangh adhikaris who responded to those courtesy callers included Kshetra Pracharak Shri Stanumalayan, Kshetra Pracharak Pramukh Shri Govinda, Prant Sanghachalak Shri ML Raja, etc. Children accompanying the families, occasionally the grown-ups too, enjoyed about a dozen traditional domestic games displayed in the forecourt of the Karyalaya like Pallankuzhi, Ammanai, Pamparam, etc. Ayurveda and Patti Vaithyam, (traditional medical advice) to bring out the glory of the traditional medical treatment and their values was also given. The families that converged at the karyalaya that day were mobilised by the ‘gatnayaks’ of Chennai. Tribute to Deendayal Upadhyaya on death anniversary
RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, VHP veteran Shri Ashok Singhal and former Union Minister Dr Subramanian Swamy attended a function in Bhopal organised on death anniversary of Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya on February 11. The winners of an essay contest were also felicitated on the occasion. The essay was conducted on ‘Ways of Economic Development and Integral Humanism.
Anganwadi workers storm Bhubaneswar over Govt apathy
Around 5,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers belonging to 13 western districts of Odisha, under the banner of Pashchim Odisha Anganwadi Karmi, an affiliate of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), staged a demonstration in front of the State Assembly against State Government’s apathy towards their longstanding issues. Alleging that the State Government is betraying them, central convenor Prasanta Kumar Padhi said, “Though the Anganwadi workers and helpers are instrumental in successful implementation of various schemes, they are deprived of basic minimum Govern-ment facilities.” Urging the State Government to pay salary to them as per the 12th Pay Commis-sion’s recommendations and re-designate them as Anganwadi teachers instead of workers and hike their retirement age from 58 to 60, the agitators threatened to give up the additional workloads assigned by the Government from April 1 if the Government fails to consider their demands at the earliest. —Organiser Desk
National Executive meeting of ABVKA

Kalyan Ashram (ABVKA) was organised in Jashpurnagar on February 14. The meeting passed a resolution on Land Acquisition Act and Mines and Mining Act of Government of India. The meeting also discussed the exploitation of Vanvasis and warned the government to deal with the matter seriously. General Secretary Shri Chandra Kant Deo presented his report. Inculcate good values to combat social threats: Mala Rawal
National convener of Durga Vahini, women wing of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, appealed to the people to inculcate good values to the children to combat different social threats. She was speaking at a function organised in Dehradun recently to celebrate golden jubilee of the VHP. She said the prime objective of Durga Vahini is to revive the values in the society and this work is being done for the last five decades. She said the VHP has been uniting the society and also the saints to arrest different problems prevailing in the Hindu society. Annual function of UBSS
Annual Function of Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti (UBSS) and presentation of Utkalmani Sewa Samman was organised on February 15. Eminent teacher Shri Rabindra Nath Ray was honoured with the Utkalmani Seva Samman–2015. Shri Ashok Sahoo, Dr Banabihari Mishra, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya graced the occasion. A souvenir, Seva Samarpan, was also released on the occasion.
