Five-day orientation camp of Sanskar Bharati Poorvottar-Vision 2020 was held at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini campus of Keshav Srishti from January 1 to 5. A total of 106 artists from 8 states of the north-east region attended the camp. The main brain behind all activities of the camp was Shri Vimal Lath of Kolkata. Joint organising secretary of the Sanskar Bharati Shri Amirchand and secretary of Sanskar Bharati Poorvottar Shri Presenjit Raichaudhary were also present in the camp on all the five days.
It was a unique experiment aimed at energising the artists from north eastern states. The efforts in this regard had however begun in 2003, it got momentum in 2006. A total of 20 sessions were conducted in five days on music, dance, drama, film, television, sculpture and cultural policy. Distinguished artists from various fields guided the budding artists.
The sessions began by lighting the lamp by noted Marathi film director Shri Rajdatt. The sessions were attended by Ustad Usman Khan, Smt Rajshri Sirk, Smt Jhelam Paranjape, Smt Pratisha Suresh, Dr Chandra Prakash Divivedi, Shri Manoj Joshi, Shri Nitish Bhardwaj, Shri Pranjal Saikia, Shri Gajendra Chauhan, Shri Dilip Shukla, Shri Abhijit Singh, Shri Imo Singh, Shri Vikram Gokhale, Shri Manoj Tewari, Shri Subhash Chandra , Shri Vasudev Kamath, Shri Udyyan Indulkar, Shri Vinayak Parab and Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe.
A ten-day Sanskrit Sambhasan Varg (speak Sanskrit in ten days by spending two hours daily on it) was organised by Sanskrit Bharati Uttarbang unit in Siliguri from January 5 to 14. Siliguri chapter of Art of Living also extended help in the camp. A total of 60 people of all age attended the camp. Many of the participants shared their experience at the concluding function. They appreciated the process and teaching method of Sanskrit Bharati. Samiran Maji, teacher of the Varg, appealed to the Sanskrit lovers to revive Sanskrit by their will.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Shri Tarun Vijay was the main speaker. He delved around the great saints and rishis and compared them with Valluvar. He said India is one, even though we speak different languages. and have different legacies, culture and literature.
Uyara Uyara Paranthida written by Prant Karyavah Shri Kumaraswamy and Cholapurathu Mannan Rajendra Chola, Thiripurasuraththu Pillaiyyum by Shri Desiya Chinthanai Kazhagam were also released on the occasion. Shri Sethu Madhavan, National Executive Member, Shri Bakthavatsalam, Prant Prachark, Shri Sambamurthy, Sah Prant Karyavah, Shri PM Ravikumar, Sah Prant Pracharak, Shri Durai Shankar, Vibhag Sanghachalak were also present. About 1,515 swayamsevaks participated in the function. Community leaders from Chettair community—President Shri Arunachala Chettair, vice president Shri Vaitheeswaran and secretary Shri Ramalingam, were also present on the occasion.

V ijayabharatham, nationalist Tamil weekly published for the last 38 years launched its website www.vijayabharatham.com on January 12. Nonagenarian RSS Pracharak Shri K Suriyanarayana Rao, while formally launching the website observed that Vijayabharatham should keep abreast of fast changing communication modes in order to Tamil speaking diasporas in countries like Singapore, Malaysia etc. He wished all the best for the success of the site.
Shri M Veerabahu, editor of Vijayabharatham observed that it is a long pending demand from Tamil readers abroad and it is being fulfilled now. The team working on the website indicated future additions to enrich the site. Shri Sethumadhavan, member, all India executive of RSS was also present.

Young swayamsevaks of Banashankari zone in Bengaluru organised Bal Sanchalan on January 18. It was a special route march by the young swayamsevaks studying in classes 7, 8 and 9 in different local schools. The event was organised as a part of the birth centenary celebrations of the late Yadav Rao Joshi, who pioneered the RSS activities in Karnataka. Nearly 580 swayamsevaks participated in the event. RSS Bengaluru Mahanagar Sah Sharirik Pramukh Hareesh Rao addressed the swayamsevaks. Swayamsevaks also performed different physical exercises including Yogasana, Pyramid, Suryanamaskar, etc.
Twelve swayamsevaks under the leadership of Bhag Karyavah Shri Kalyan Babu and Nagar Karyavah Shri Prakash participated in the cleaning of bus stand area at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai as a part of the Sewa Sanghik activity on January 13. Public too joined hands with the swayamsevaks in cleaning the area. It was decided to involve the local shopkeepers and retailers in keeping the place clean.
The 5th International Conference and Gathering of Elders will be held from January 31 to February 5 in the historic city of Mysuru. RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat will inaugurate the conference on February 1. The first of this kind conference was held from February 4 to 9, 2003 in Mumbai. The second was held in Jaipur from February 5 to 10, 2006. The third conference was held from January 31 to February 5, 2009 in Nagpur. The 4th was held from March 4 to7, 2012 in Haridwar.
