Hamare Rajju Bhaiya released in Delhi

RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat released a book on fourth Sarsanghachalak the late Prof. Rajendra Singh who was affectionately called Rajju Bhaiyaji, in New Delhi on December 24. The book, ‘Hamare Rajju Bhaiya’, has been published by Prabhat Prakashan, New Delhi. It has been edited jointly by Shri Devenera Swarup Agrawal and Shri Brijkishore Sharma. Former Deputy Prime Minister Shri LK Advani and VHP patron Shri Ashok Singhal were also present. Shri Bhagwat said Rajju Bhaiya was ideal example of simplicity and he knew the art of reading the mind of an individual. VHP patron Shri Ashok Singhal described Rajju Bhaiya as an ideal teacher who had the ability to explain his subject to the students in simplest form. Shri Devendra Swarup recalled his association with Rajju Bhaiya in Prayag in 1946. Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and many other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. —Bureau Report


National Council meeting of Adhivakta Parishad

The national council meeting of Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad concluded in Patna on December 29. Speaking at the concluding session national president Shri Baldevraj Mahajan appealed to the government to create effective mechanism to clear the pending cases in various courts. He said the Parishad would extend full cooperation in this endeavour. Former Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan justice (retd) Shri SN Jha, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya and Kshetra Pracharak Shri Swant Ranjan were also present.
The theme of the three-day meeting was strengthening of justice delivery system. About 300 delegates from different parts of the country participated in the meeting. Different issues concerning the judiciary were discussed in 11 different sessions. Two resolutions were also adopted. The first resolution stressed on increasing the strength of judges in the Supreme Court. The second resolution was about the brutal killing of innocent Vanvasis in Assam. (Sanjeev Kumar)


Unique Walkathon with lamps on hands

In a first of its kind and unique initiative, a walkathon was held by RSS swayamsevaks carrying lamps in their hands. The event, Deepa Nadige, was organised by the swayamsevaks of Sunkadakatte Grama (Vorkady Mandal) under Manjeshwara taluk of Kasaragod on December 26. Nearly 42 swayamsevaks in RSS uniform walked on the road holding lamps in their hands and singing Sangh songs. RSS Zilla Sahkaryavah Shri Jithendra Prathapanagar was also present. n


Sikh Sangat demands release of convicts

A delegation of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on December 31 demanding release of the Sikh convicts who are in jails since the era of terrorism in Punjab. Some of them are between 65 and 85 years of age and are in the jails for more than 20 years. “Since terrorism is now the matter of past, the people who are in jails should be allowed to live a new and normal life. Since the cases were investigated by the CBI, therefore the permission of the central government is necessary for their release,” said a press release. The delegation handed over a list of 78 persons who are in jails. Shri Rajnath Singh assured sympathetic consideration on the plea. The delegation included Sikh Sangat patron Sardar Chiranjeev Singh, president Sardar Gurcharan Singh Gill, general secretary Shri Avinash Jaiswal, chief of Damdali Taksal Baba Harnam Singh Dhooma, former Jatthedar of Akal Takhta Bhai Jasbir Singh, chief Granthi of Golden Temple Gyani Jagtar Singh, president of Delhi SGPC Shri Manjit Singh GK and others. n


Bajrang Dal protests against ‘PK’ in Delhi

Delhi unit of Bajrang Dal organised protests outside Delite and Priya cinemas of Delhi against the ‘PK’ movie of Amir Khan on December 30. The Bajrang Dal described the film as anti-Hindu. IVHP general secretary Shri Ramkrishna Srivastava said there is conspiracy to instigate communal riots in the country through the movie. He said the Home Ministry should ban the film. The VHP also raised the question how the film got certificate from the Censor Board. —Bureau Report


VHP workers cleans Pamba River in Shabarimala

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers led by senior Pracharak Shri Kummunam Rajashekharan cleaned popular Pamba River near Sri Shabarimala Temple in Kerala on December 29. Both men and women volunteers joined the campaign at the premises of Pamba. Later, Shri Kummunam Rajashekharan addressed the volunteers. Pamba River, also called Pampa, is the third longest river in the South India after Periyar and Bharathappuzha and the longest river in the erstwhile princely state of Travancore. Sabarimala temple dedicated to Lord Ayyappa is located on the banks of this river. The river is also known as ‘Dakshina Bhageerathi’. Devotees of Lord Ayyappa believe that immersing oneself in the Pamba is equivalent to bathing in the Holy Ganges River. —Bureau Report


SJM demands White Paper’ on ‘gains and losses’ of FDI

The 12th Rashtriya Sabha of Swedeshi Jagaran Manch held in Bhubaneswar demanded white paper from the government on gains and losses of FDI during the last two decades before embarking upon any further invitation to foreigners in different sectors of the economy.
The SJM urged Government not to compromise on any existing provisions of Indian Patent Act including on pre-grant opposition. Rather the government should demand a complete review of the several draconian provisions of the existing TRIPS Agreement and renegotiate the same at all appropriate forums of WTO including for easy availability of new technology on environment and other important areas. The SJM strongly supported Modi Government for its unequivocal stand against western countries for poor state of environmental condition of the mother earth.
Swami Parangyananada, chief of Kriya Yoga Ashram and International Secretary of Pangya Mission, inaugurated the conference. ‘India Today’ Hindi Editor Anshuman Tiwari spoke at the inaugural session as Guest of Honour. Shri Annada Shankar Panigrahi, Sangharsha Vahini Pramukh, SJM also spoke. A rally and Public Meeting was also held.
