World Record of Largest Assembly of Janjati Archers

The Three-day National Archery Competition organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram for Vanvasi youth concluded in Bengaluru on December 28. The meet created world record of ‘largest assembly of tribal archers’. The competition was organised at the Vaghdevi Institute in Vartur.

Kalyan Ashram’s Three-day 17th National Archery Competition in Bengaluru

Speaking at the venue of competition on December 28 Union Minister of State for Sports Sarbanda Sonowal said the tribal youth have to work hard to excel in sports. He said archery is the tradition of janjati communities. Sports cultivate moral values. He welcomed the initiative of the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram in Vanvasi sports at national level. He assured all out support for the Vanvasi sports.
Rahul Banarjee, Olympian archer said archery is in blood of Vanvasis. Shri Shakti Pad Thakur gave brief information of the competition and conducted the prize distribution ceremony. Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Arunachal Pradesh performance was outstanding.
The competition was inaugurated on December 26 by Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram. He appreciated the efforts of Kalyan Ashram and encouraged the archers. Shri Suhas Gopinath, the youngest CEO and entrepreneur of Bengaluru graced the session as Chief Guest. He suggested the youths to realise a dream through sincerity and honesty.
A total of 231 archers from 22 State units of Kalyan Ashram participated in the competition. The competitions were organised for boys and girls in sub-junior, junior and senior groups. The event was officiated by Competition Director Shri Dhaneswar Maida of Rajasthan, Shooting Director Shri Prabodh Nanda of West Bengal and Result Director Shri Vidyadharji of Andhra Pradesh. Archers got opportunity to interact with Olympiyan Rahul Banarjee and Satyadev Prasad.
In the presence of adjudicators of Golden Book of World Records Shri Tejas Sambre (Head South India) and Shri Rahul Singh Devda (Representative South Zone), the world record of ‘largest assembly of tribal archers’ was achieved by the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram from Bengaluru.

The Board of Trustees and Management Committee of Vishwa Hindu Parishad met in Hyderabad from December 28 to 29. RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi was also present.
The major attraction of the meeting was election of new executive for next three years. VHP’s senior leader Shri Balkrishna Naik conducted the elections. He declared Shri Raghav Reddy as new president. The new Executive declared by Shri Reddy includes Dr Pravin Togadia as working president, Shri Ashokrao Chaugule as working president (abroad), Shri Champat Rai as general secretary, Shri Dineshchandra as general secretary (organisation) and Shri Vinayak Rao Deshpande as joint general secretary (organisation). Shri Champat Rai then declared Dr Surendra Jain, Swami Vigyanananda, Shri Shyam Gupt and Shri Y Raghavalu as joint general  secretaries.
Shri Ramesh Modi is Treasurer, while Shri Balkrishna Naik, Shri Hukumchand Sanwala, Shri Omprakash Singhal, Shri Subhash Kapoor, Dr Mahesh Mehta, Rajmata Chandrakanta Devi, Shri KV Madanan, Shri Jaganath Sahi, Smt Meenati Bhatt, Shri Jiveshwar Mishra and Shri VH Gopachi as vice presidents.
Shri Dharmanarayan Sharma, Shri Jugalkishore, Shri Veyankatesh Aabdev, Shri Rajendra Singh ‘Pankaj’, Smt Meenakshi Peshwe, Shri Umashankar Sharma, Shri Khemchand Sharma, Shri Koteshwar Sharma, Shri Ravidev Anand, Shri Prashant Hartalkar, Shri Mahaveer, Shri Arvind Brahmabhatt, Shri Ashok Tewari, Dr Basant Rath, Shri Radhakrishna Manori, Shri Madhukar Rao Dixit and Shri Sudhanshu Patnaik as central secretaries. Shri Dada Vedak, Shri Sunil Sharma, Smt Mala Rawal, Shri Parmananda Manohar, Sadhvi Kamlesh Bharati, Shri Ramswarup, Shri Anand Harbola, Shri Nandlal Lohia, Shri G Satyam, Devjibhai Rawat, Shri Ajay Kumar, Shri Sapan Mukherjee, Shri Gopal Ratnam, Shri Kailash Singhal, Shri Harishankar, Shri Bajranglal Bagra, Shri Snehpal Singh, Shri Kashi Vishwanathan and Dr Maheshchandra Gupt are secretaries.
