Education should be closely linked to ‘Character Building’—Venkaiah Naidu

Emotional and spiritual quotients which play an important role in our life are missing in our education system. There is an urgent need for moral education in schools and colleges, said the RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal while releasing the book Bharatiya shiksha ka swaroop written by noted educationist Shri Dinnath Batra on October 28 at the Ramkrishna Mission Auditorium, New Delhi.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest of the function Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Minister of Urban Development said, “Education reforms are must for change and intellectuals should come together for this noble cause.” He also congratulated Shri Batra for his untiring efforts in the field of education and in writing this book.
He said that there is an urgent need for character building of the younger generation so that they become better citizens and do well in life. This can be achieved through education only. A good character is very important, without this Bharat will not progress. To achieve this we must revive our education system, he said.
He further emphasised that whenever we talk about ‘Hindutva’, people think of religion, but actually Hindutva is a way of life. It has become a fashion to hate ‘Hindutva’. Stressing on promoting mother tongue he said, nothing is wrong in reading English but we should not forget our mother tongue.
He emphasised that education should not be used only for employement, it is for empowerment. “If you have Goddess Saraswati with you, Goddess Lakshmi will automatically come to you,” Shri Naidu said.
Prof Kapil Kapoor said that during the last 67 years of Independence, several committees were set up to revamp the education system but they have not been able to bring desired changes in our education. The western culture in our education system has completely ruined the traditional Indian values.
On the occasion another book Swami Vivekananda ka chintan mein uchcha shiksha ka samavesh by Shri Atul Kothari was also released by Shri Venkaiah Naidu. Atul Kothari is a national Co-convener of the Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas.
