Sewa Bharati and Mata Amritanandamayi Math together are going to adopt around 60 severely flood hit villages of Jammu & Kashmir for permanent rehabilitation. These are the villages where impact of the flood is huge and not only the houses, but also the agriculture land has become useless for several years due to silt. “We are conducting survey of the damage and the exact number of such villages will be ascertained only after the survey report,” said RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh Shri Suhasrao Hiremath while talking to Organiser after visiting the affected areas of the State. Rashtriya Sewa Bharati (RSB) general secretary Shri Rishipal Dadwal also accompanied him in Srinagar and surrounding areas.
Shri Hiremath said apart from supplying food and other items, the Sewa Bharati activists have also provided four blankets to each person at several places. “The villages where electricity is not expected to be restored for long time, we have decided to provide solar lights. About 2,000 solar lights are to be distributed shortly,” he said adding that Sewa Bharati teams of doctors are visiting the affected villages to treat and educate the people about the water borne disease which may occur in coming days. Suhasji also suggested the workers to provide school bags and books to all those students who lost their bags in the flood. About 5,000 such kits are to be provided in the first phase.
Another important point is that a large number of people in the State had indigenous breeds of cow. But thousands of such cows have been washed away in the flood. It is a major loss to the people as one cow costs from Rs 40 to 50,000 in the State. RSB general secretary Shri Dadwal has appealed to the gaushalas of the country to think how they can help the affected Kashmiris in this regard.

Two day Interface by Shaikshik Mahasangh in Jaipur
Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh had organised this two day Interface at the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur from September 13-14. The topic of the discussion was Regulatory Mechanism in Higher Education. More than 700 educationists from 14 states participated in the discussion. Vice Chancellors of five Universities including Prof. BL Sharma, Prof. Kailash Sodani, Prof Bhagirath Singh Bijarania, Dr Bhagwati Prakash Sharma and Dr Devswaroop and three former VCs including Dr PL Chaturvedi, Dr ML Kalra and Dr Kailash Shekhawat joined the discussion. Dr JK Bajaj of Centre for Policy Studies, New Delhi, Prof MC Sharma from IGNOU, and former chairman of UGC Dr Hari Gautam were also present. A total of 102 articles were received and 43 selected were published in a souvenir, Meemansa.
Inaugurating the symposium Rajasthan Chief Minister Smt Vasundhara Raje unfolded a road map for education sector by stressing the need to start universities on skill development, tourism, teachers training, food and nutrition etc. Rural development minister Shri Gulab Chand Kataria stressed the need to shape the talent of the students. Earlier, Education Minister Shri Kalicharan Saraf welcomed all the educationists at the symposium.

In addition to the fund raising, this activity has opened the eyes of people that Bharat is in fact from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Every major town and city in the country is witnessing similar fund raising to help the relief work in the flood devastated Jammu and Kashmir. Kalyan Ashram national convention in Hyderabad
A three day National Convention of Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram was held in Hyderabad from September 19 to 21. About 700 workers belonging to different regions of the country participated in the convention. The discussions centered around living conditions of the Vanvasis and the ways and means to change their living conditions.
Kalyan Ashram president Shri Jagdeoram Oraon, vice presidents Shri Kripa Prasad Singh, Shri Jaleswar Brahma, organising secretary Shri Somayajululu were also present. Shri K Ramachandrayya informed the convention that Andhra Pradesh alone has about 80 lakh Vanvasis and the activities of Kalyan Ashram have enabled over 300 Vanvasi youth of Shri Sailam forest to become teachers and 40 Vanvasis from Paderu region have joined police service. —Bureau Report
