Kerala once again in the map of ‘terror tourism’

BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was right lock, stock and barrel when he told that Kerala is the nursery of terrorists. He was addressing a huge election rally in Kassergode, Kerala. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy countered Modi saying that he is suffering from ‘loss of memory’. Keralites believe that it is Chandy’s guilt that made him deliver such a ridiculous statement. It was a spontaneous reaction from a failed CM.

The news of Tehsin Akhtar’s arrest once again reminds all that Kerala is still a safe haven for terrorists. Sangh parivar organisations including BJP have been drawing the attention of the authorities since long to the fact that all sort of terror outfits, whether Islamic fundamentalists or Maoists find Kerala as a paradise for their sinister designs, safe stay and plans for recruitment of the youths to terror activities.  Tehsin Akhtar alias Monu,  top Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative, was arrested last month near Nepal border while trying to go to Pakistan via Nepal. Tehsin is considered to be the head of IM in India after the arrest of its Indian operations head Siddibappa alias Yasin Bhatkal by Indian Intelligence Bureau in Nepal on August, 2013.

Tehsin was wanted for a series of blasts in the country including the one in Patna on the October 27, 2013, an obvious attempt on Narendra Modi. It is reported that even though IB had persuaded him through his parents to surrender, he quashed it. “I am not a misguided youth; I know what I am doing” was his typical ‘fundamentalist’ reply. Reports suggest that he was also wanted for Varanasi blasts of 2010, 2011 triple Mumbai blasts, Pune blasts of August 1, 2012, Hyderabad blasts in February 2013 and Bodh Gaya blasts in July 2013. A close associate of Bhatkal, he has been active in recruiting youths to the terrorist outfits.

After the arrest of Akhtar, IB used its sophisticated electronic gears on skype to trap his colleague Waqas Ahmed alias Zia-ur-Rehman last week. He was not aware of Monu’s arrest until he was trapped in Rajasthan.

During the interrogation, it was disclosed that both had stayed in Moonnar, an international tourist spot in Kerala for plotting terrorists activities and recruitment of terrorists. It is reported that both had used fake ID cards during their stay in Moonnar. Waqas had stayed in Moonnar for few months. Akhtar had stayed with him for some weeks. Wagamon, the tourist spot infamous for the training camp conducted by outlawed SIMI is quite close to Moonnar.

For further fact findings, Delhi Police brought both to Moonnar.  The owner of the home where they had stayed has identified them. They have disclosed to the police that during the stay in Moonnar they had visited Kochi and spent some time in prestigious Marine Drive area and a mammoth shopping mall in Kochi. This revelation is noteworthy in view of the Mumbai carnage operated from the sea.

Kerala is once again hitting the headlines, thanks to the free movements of terrorist outfits in the State sans inviting the wrath of the Government, ruling front and Opposition front. Terrorists find it a comfortable and safe zone due to the vote-bank politics played by both ruling Congress-led UDF and CPM-led Opposition LDF. None can forget the way both Fronts ran from pillar to posts for the release of Abdul Nasser Madani when he was jailed in Coimbatore in connection with Coimbatore blasts of 1998 targeted at Shri LK Advani. Both Fronts went to the extent of passing a unanimous resolution on the floor of the State Assembly for the release of Madani. And, now Madani is again in jail, this time in Bengaluru. Both Fronts had competed each other in advocating for the comfort of Madani. The anti-Hindu stands taken by both Fronts with respect to infamous Marad massacre are still fresh in the memories of Keralites.

Hindu heritage house  demolished by Muslim goons

An ancesteral heritage Hindu house was illegally demolished by a Muslim timber merchant in Kerala.

Murli Menon, who is the actual owner of the property, is based in Ahmedabad but  belongs to Kollengode Village, Kerala. He stays at Ahmedabad and visit Kerala once a year. Menon has requested Kerala based Hindu groups to take necessary action against the merchant as the ancestral house, is a heritage structure. His grandmother’s real uncle was Swami Tapovan, Guruji of Swami Chinmayanandaji.

Swami Tapovanji was attached to his grandmother and used to stay  in this house.  Hence, it was not only a heritage house but also had a great spiritual value as Swami Tapovan had visited and meditated there. The trees in the compound were planted by his spiritually inclined uncle Ponnukuttanji, who went to Sabarimala pilgrimage 18 times and had made a cowshed  in this heritage house. The goons demolished the cowshed also. Menon’s communist uncles  helped the goons in the demolition process.
