Throughout the week many national leaders and local leaders of Jammu-Kashmir were seen making efforts to fool the people of Jammu-Kashmir along with the whole nation. Be it call for referendum on AFSPA or some kind of excellent breakthrough in talk with Pakistan. (Although seeking of peace and sovereignty with the help of a neighboring country, whose anti-India stances are no secret, is itself a sign of our own inability). Story does not end here, at the local level the separatists were heard singing old chorus of U.N. resolution and the Chief Minister was busy in trying fooling people of Jammu-Kashmir with his “Fact speak” advertisement.

Present government of Jammu-Kashmir made its best effort to fool people when it released “Fact speak” advertisement to show it’s achievement in five years of its tenure. A list of the government’s achievements was released on January 5, marking the fifth anniversary of the government. It started with its best, Panchayati Raj institutions, Public Service Guarantee Act, Right to Information Act, Reconstitution of Accountability Commission and Constitution of Vigilance Commission and so on to curb corruption.

The list of achievements was endless. One lakh jobs provided to youth, one lakh in the offing, 2,500 units established, 1400 MW power projects launched in five years, 28 lakh people provided safe drinking water, 445 road projects, and the rise of literacy rate to 69 per cent and so on.

These statistics are on paper, but the ground situation tells a different story. The rural population is deprived of the basic amenities. They still yearn for roads, water, electricity, schools and hospitals. The failures far outweigh the successes that greeted Jammu and Kashmir.

Also, these 5 years have marked an era of spurious drugs, Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) scam, infant deaths, land grabbing, fudging of forensic reports, favouritism, back door appointments, unfairness and arbitrariness in postings and selections and other malpractices in J&K.

Now the release of the advertisement by Omar government proved it’s dishonesty with the people of Jammu-Kashmir. Had Omar been honest we could have hoped the improvement on the ground. Ignoring or misquoting an ailment could only worsen it.

Initially many misleaded people of Kashmir are now aware of these tactics. They now are aware of the conspiracy and feasibility of the inoperable dreams shown to them by separatist organisations. Hurriyat Conference which once enjoyed the support of lot of people presently has split into three parts. Now there are three parts of it, all with different set of theories for Jammu-Kashmir problems and respective solutions. Separatist anti-national organizations have always enjoyed the applause, incitement and support from Pakistan. It’s been known to all. Keeping all sects of Hurriyat together is in best interest of Pakistan and Pakistan’s efforts keeping all separatists together are going in vain.

Addressing a press conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) on January 5, termed BJP more effective vis-à-vis resolution of Kashmir issue than the Congress led UPA in the centre.
“It was during the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the Prime Minister of India that he had declared Kashmir a humane issued which should be addressed within the ambit of humanity,” the Mirwaiz told reporters.
