undefinedThe issue of forceful construction of a mosque by some fanatic near the Red Ford during the excavation of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation last year is not over, some fanatics tried to build a Mazar inside Delhi High Court (near gate no. 5). Interestingly, the construction of the illegal structure was in full swing for several days and nobody in the High Court noticed it. There are many security agencies, which look after the security of the Court, but why they ignored it raises several questions.

It was only after some VHP workers apprised the nodal officer of the Court on December 26 about the illegal construction that he swang into action and directed demolition of the structure.

A high level delegation of Delhi VHP leader met the DCP the same day and sought strict action against those responsible for the misdeed. They also urged him to take effective steps so that the structure is not built again. The DCP told to inspect the spot at 11 am on December 27and called the leaders of both the communities there. On the designated time and spot both the Hindu and Muslim leaders assembled there and, as was expected, heated arguments were exchanged. There was full police bandobast on the spot. The VHP leaders said no illegal structure would be tolerated inside the High Court. Meanwhile, some VHP workers petitioned the Court, which directed for maintaining status quo.

According to VHP media chief Vinod Bansal, a high level delegation of Delhi VHP leaders including state vice president Deepak Kumar, secretary Rampal Singh Yadav, Vibhag president Jagdish Agrawal, organising secretary Ravi Datt, advocate Bindalesh and SS Sai Baba Omji visited the spot where the Mazar was being constructed. What surprised the delegation the most was that the construction was being monitored by some history-sheeters. The VHP delegation phoned the nodal officer from the spot and requested him to visit the spot, but he refused to come. Then the VHP delegation sat on dharna outside his office. Then the nodal officer agreed to visit the spot and ordered for demolition of the illegal structure. The VHP delegation refused to leave the spot until the structure was demolished completely.

Interestingly, many advocates and religious, social organisations had complained against it but no action was taken. The construction work was clandestinely going on after covering the spot with tin sheets. Even the High Court advocates were not allowed to see it.
