(Organiser,3.11.2013); This refers to the article ‘Sandalwood of Indian Cinema’ by Guruprasad in Organiser. We are glad and thank Organiser in bringing out an article on Kannada film world. But, Kannada film world is not all about Dr Rajkumar and Dr Vishnuvardhan, but a dozen of non-doctorate actors and actresses are responsible for building a strong foundation of the present 'Sandalwood Film World'. Actors such as Gangadhar, Rajesh, Sudharshan, Ashwath, Sampath Kumar, Balakrishna, etc. and actresses such as Pandari Bai, Leelavathi, Kalpana, etc. are also responsible for making a strong base for the present Kannada Film World. We are disappointed that the writer has not made a mention of these yesteryear actors in his article. We wish that politics should not invade this humble 'Sandalwood' film industry which has been producing decent and quality films free from sex and violence since beginning. Equally we deplore that 'Karnataka State Government' and 'Doordarshan's Chandana Channel have been showing stepmotherly treatment to these actors in providing due honour to them.
