Two-day conference on ‘Swami Vivekananda on Education’

Vice Chancellors of all over India will gather in Delhi from November 16 to 17 for a two day conference to contemplate on the ways of infusion of Swamiji’s thought in the contemporary education. The event, to be organised under the ages of Swami Vivekananda Sardh Shati Samaroh Samiti will be held at New Delhi Convention Centre.

Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Dr MM Pallam Raju and renowned scientist and former Director General of CSIR Dr Raghunath Mashelkar will inaugurate the conference at 10.30 am. Honorary Chairman of Sardha Shati Samaroh Samiti and former Secretary General of Lok Sabha, Dr Subhash Kashyap and Secretary Prof. Aniruddha Deshpande will also be present. Theme of the conference is “Swami Vivekananda on Education – A Vision for National Resurgence”. During the conference deliberations would take place on three major points—man making and nation building, Relevance of Swamiji’s teachings in education and, and Application of Swamiji’s teachings in present education system. Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Viswavidyalaya and head of Gayatri Pariwar Dr Pranav Pandya (Haridwar), Vice Chancellor of Ramakrishna Vivekananda University Swami Atmapriyananda (Kolkata), former director of NCERT Dr JS Rajput (Delhi) will also speak at the conference. Likewise renowned scientist Dr Vijay Bhatkar (Pune), former Pro-VC of JNU Dr Kapil Kapoor (Delhi), Director, Higher & Technical Education, Arunachal Pradesh Dr. Joram Begi (Itanagar), VC of Makhanlal Chaturvedi Patrakarita Vishwavidyalay Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala (Bhopal), member of CAT Smt. Leena Mehendale (Mumbai), VC of Amrita University Dr. Venkat Rangan (Coimbatore), Vice President of Vivekananda Kendra Ku. Nivedita Bhide (Kanyakumari), Director, School of Translation Studies & Training, IGNOU Dr. A K Singh (Delhi), Dr. MK Sridhar (Bengaluru) will speak on different topics.

There will be presentations of selective ongoing experiments relevant with the theme of the conference. After the detailed and in depth discussions on each topic one declaration (Action Plan) will be released in the end of the conference. Former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and UGC Chairman Dr Ved Prakash will grace the valedictory session on 17th November. In this, the nationwide Vice Chancellors will mainly have the address of Dr Abdul Kalam.
