Trade unions warn of a massive protest outside
Parliament on December 12
Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and all other prominent central trade unions jointly organised a countrywide protest on September 25 to register their protest against ban on the government recruitments. The workers warned the Government of a massive agitation outside the Parliament on December 12, if their demands were not met.
The protest rally in Delhi was organised near ITO and was addressed by the BMS leader Shri Pawan Kumar, AITUC general secretary Shri Gurudas Dasgupta, Hind Mazdoor Sabha general secretary Sardar Harbhajan Singh Sidhu, CITU national secretary Shri Devrai, AIUTUC secretary Shri RK Sharma, Mazdoor Ekta Committee president Shri Santosh Kumar, UTUC leader Shri Abani Roy and others. More than 3,000 workers joined the protest and warned the Government to refrain from anti-worker policies. The rally began from Shahid Bhagat Singh terminal and was flagged off by the BMS general secretary Shri Baijnath Rai.
All the workers and trade union leaders condemned the Government proposal for ban on recruitment in the name of cut in expenditure. Shri Baijnath Rai said while several thousands of permanent vacancies are continuing since years together in different departments of the Government, such a proposal is nothing but back door entry of contract workers on low wages without job and other securities. “This proposal of the government is unfortunate, unethical, undemocratic, illegal and against development process. No country can develop by keeping large number of vacancies in its departments. The whole activities will either be slow or will be without fruitful speedy result,” he said. However, the BMS welcomed the proposal of cutting in Government expenditures on officers, bureaucrats and Ministers.
Warning the Government of dire consequences in coming days if it continues to suppress the legal rights of the workers, BMS zonal organising secretary Shri Pawan Kumar said the growing contract system would prove costly to the Government itself. He said if the Government cannot ensure employment to the people it has no right to continue in power.
Shri Gurudas Dasgupta said today’s countrywide protest is a warning to this anti-people government. “Now the tendency of we earn and you eat will not continue,” he said while raising the slogans of Vandemataram and Bharatmata ki jai. Harbhajan Singh Sidhu said just passing of the Food Security Bill is not enough, the Government policies are anti-people.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad condoled the killing of innocent people in jehadi attack on Nairobi’s Westgate Shopping Mall, where 68 innocent non-Muslim civilians were killed and 175 injured. In a condolence message sent to the High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya in New Delhi on September 24 VHP’s joint general secretary Swami Vigyananand said: “Vishwa Hindu Parishad strongly condemns the cowardice act of Islamic terrorists in the name of jehad. We appreciate the efforts of Kenyan security forces for firmly dealing with the Islamic terrorists.”
He said the threat of jehad against non-Muslims can no longer be ignored. Today no part of the world is free from this danger. From Chechnya to Kosovo, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Myanmar to Thailand, from World Trade Center to New Delhi, from Mumbai to Nairobi, from Cairo to Moscow, from Kandahar to Jerusalem, from Paris to Timor, from Bali to London from Madrid to Boston….. Bomb blasts, killings of innocent, rape of women, kidnapping, murder, genocide, is going on in the name of a ‘holy war’ called jehad, promoting pan-Islamic terrorism and imperialism, he emphasised. World is facing an unprecedented crisis due to the activities of Islamic jehad, in the name of holy war. The civilised world can no longer ignore the threats of jehad. Therefore, there is an urgent need before the civilised world to form a grand coalition to defeat and destroy the pan-Islamic jehad.
Delhi unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has urged both the State and Central Government to make foolproof arrangements for the religious activities of the Hindus. Expressing shock and concern over the recent death of 19 devotees during the Ganesh immersion in Yamuna in Delhi on September 18, the VHP termed it as a result of the sheer carelessness on the part of concerned department of the State government. The VHP said the incident is not new rather there have been many such incidents in the past also, but the government seems to have taken no lesson. The height of carelessness on the part of the State government was that there was even no diver to locate the dead bodies of those devotees who were drowned.

After the successful completion of 84 Kosi Parikrama of Ayodhya, the saints from four South Indian states have started the Panchkosi Parikrama from September 22. Around a dozen saints along with their 100 disciples from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh joined the 20-day long parikrama of the pious town—Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Sri Ram. The parikrama will conclude on Vijayadashmi day, October 13. Expressing grave concern over the riots in Muzaffarnagar, VHP general secretary Shri Champat Rai said there was no need of using heavy force against the peaceful saints conducting 84 Kosi Parikrama last month. Even after such misuse of forces and government machinery, the saints completed their Yatra as per the schedule. Instead of misusing the force in Ayodhya if the same force was deployed in Muzaffarnagar the casualty would not have been this much, he emphasised.
In a major move to strengthen the bonds through social harmony, breaking all caste-barriers Shri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji of Sri Ramachandrapur Mutt, Hosanagara, visited the house of Sullia MLA Angara on September 24. This visit has a significant social relevance as far as united Hindu society is concerned. Swamiji represents a Brahmin’s community and the MLA Angara represents a dalit community. Hence, the visit was historic. Swamiji was welcomed by the family members of Angara. After meeting the family members, Swamiji also addressed a small gathering there. The State executive meeting of Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam (SASS) was held in Coimbatore on September 22. Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) celebrated Vishwakarma Jayanti in New Delhi September 17. BMS general secretary Shri Baijnath Rai said God Vishwakarma sets an example of sacrifice for the national cause when he himself created Vajra, an instrument to kill his own son due to his anti-national activities. Vishwakarma brought peace in the world. BMS president Shri C.K. Sajinaraynan said Vishwakarma is a positive thought of making a nation strong and exhorts the workers to extend their creative hand for nation building. Many dignitaries from the Sanskar Bharati, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, BJP, Sarva Panth Samadar Manch, etc also joined the celebration.
