Entries invited for Bapurao Lele journalism awards

Rashtriya Patrakarita Kalyan Nyas has invited entries for 2013 journalism awards. The last date for receiving the entries is August 15. Till now three awards were presented every year by the Nyas—Bapurao Lele Smriti Puraskar (Rs 51,000), Asharani Vohra Smriti Mahila Puraskar (Rs 21,000) and Dada Saheb Apte Smriti Chhayachitra Puraskar (Rs 21,000). This year a new Puraskar has been added in the memory of the late Shrikant Joshi. This Puraskar (Rs 31,000) will be presented to a young journalist. The selection of the winners will be done by a committee of three senior journalists. Dr SL Bhairappa inaugurates two-day seminar in Varanasi

Noted writer Dr SL Bhairappa inaugurated a two-day national seminar on ‘Contribution of Historical Lectures in Creating Social Awareness’ in Varanasi on July 21. The seminar, organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad, was attended by about 100 select intellectuals, State office bearers of the Parishad. Shri Lakshmikanth Sharma, Minister for Culture and Higher Education of Madhya Pradesh was the chief guest. Shri Nawaung Samathen Kulapati, Vice Chancellor of Tibetan Studies at University of Saranath presided over the seminar.

VHP condemns attack on Amarnath Yatra

Vishwa Hindu Parishad on July 21 condemned the attacks on Amarnath Yatra at various places in the Kashmir Valley. VHP Delhi State secretary general Shri Satyendra Mohan termed it a deliberate attempt by separatists to disturb the annual pilgrimage. He said this type of tendency is always displayed by such elements during the Yatras. He demanded the government to ensure safety and security of the pilgrims and curb the Islamic fundamentalists.

RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sampark Pramukh Shri Ram Madhav came down heavily on the Congress spokesperson Shakil Ahmed who recently said Indian Mujahideen (IM) was formed as a reaction to 2002 Gujarat riots and said the Congress leader was acting like a ‘spokesperson’ of the terror outfit. “Terrorism flourishes in India courtesy apologists like Ahmed,” Shri Ram Madhav twitted.

Training camp for VHP village activists

A one day training camp for village activists of Western Andhra Pradesh was organised on July 13. About 100 activists from different villages attended the camp organised at Gadwal village. The camp was inaugurated by Palmur Vibhag Pramukh Shri Vishwanathji. VHP international working president Shri G Raghav Reddy stressed the need for the activists to remain vigilant round the clock. He also appealed to the workers to get united as a formidable Hindu vote-bank.
