“LIke a real guru, the RSS is guiding the society in a more systematic way to lead a happy life and motivating everyone to live for the country. In this way the RSS is indeed a big asset to the society,” said senior Sangh Pracharak Shri Su Ramanna in Bengaluru on July 15. He was speaking at Malleswaram Vibhaga Guru Pooja Utsava.

He said modern day teachers are not gurus and present day students are not shishyas because teachers try to shift the information from books on to the minds of their students and students gather information to pass the exams only to settle down by hunting for a job. Actually a real guru must enlighten their student and bring in complete transformation in the personality of the child to lead a meaningful life, while a student should accept the guru as his mentor and totally dedicate his life to serve his master by fully surrendering himself or herself to his or her guru, he said while referring to declining values in the society.

He said the Guru Pooja is the concept originated in Bharat as part of the ancient gurukul system wherein students or the citizen return a portion of their earnings or valuable time back to the society to safeguard the interest of the nation. “By samarpana (offering a small portion of the earnings or giving  time for a good cause) one will not miss a thing but gains tremendously. I have seen many swayamsevaks who are voluntarily participating in Guru Pooja Utsavas year after year for the last 60 years and happily making offering to Sangh after worshipping the flag. By doing so they are getting the infinite wisdom which is the testimony that samarpan will only boost our morale,” Shri Ramanna added.

Agriculturist turned educationalist Shri N Ramachandraiah, who presided over the function, said the need of the hour is to stop conversion of poor Hindus to other religions.  Bhag Sanghachalak Shri VN Virakthamutt also shared the dais.
