National Executive Meeting of Adhivakta Parishad Advocates should guard credibility of the judiciary

“Ït is no more a secret that our judiciary has to a great extent lost credibility in the eyes of the common men. It is not a good sign. The advocates have a greater responsibility to restore the faith of the common men in the judicial system. The advocates associated with the Adhivakta Parishad should take it as a challenge,” said RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the two-day national executive meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad (ABAP) organised in Mumbai from April 6 to 7.

National president of the Adhivakta Parishad Justice (retd) Shri S Parvathrao, former chairman of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa Shri Anil Singh, former Advocate General of Maharashtra Shri DP Apte, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of RSS Dr Manmohan Vaidya, organising secretary of the Parishad Shri Kamlesh Singh and general secretary Shri Bharat Kumar were also present on the occasion. A total of 49 delegates from different parts of the country attended the meeting.

Shri Bhaiyaji further said the growing influence of Government and also many other elements including money, terror, etc have damaged this credibility and the advocates should come forward against these elements. “The common men only want that the judiciary should be fearless. A united effort with positive approach can bring the positive results on this front,” Shri Joshi added.

Later, in a resolution the Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad (ABAP) appealed to the advocates to stand up with full vigour against the internal and external threats the country is facing today. “The ABAP is confident that when the governance is marked with absence of goodwill, transparency and willingness to do good to the people, the lawyers are the only community which can bring back a sense of purpose and ethics in society and participate in the resurgence of Bharat, which some have termed as the second freedom struggle of Bharat. The ABAP also hopes that the lawyers would increasingly strive for a new framework of governance more attuned to our people akin as projected by Swami Vivekananda,” the resolution said.

The resolution added that in the given scenario, only the legal fraternity can stop the continuous abuse and misuse of the spirit of the framers of the Constitution. “The ABAP calls upon the advocates to follow the philosophy and principal of Karmanayeva dhikaraste maafaleshu kadachanah…., thereby continue the long history of selfless service to the nation. After all it is only the lawyers who can ensure that the Rule of Law is upheld. The ABAP declares that it has the responsibility to dispel the mood of distrust, depression, desperation engulfing the society. It calls upon the legal fraternity especially its members and its units to stand up against the law breakers. We must forthwith initiate the process of prosecution against the crooks and give full fledged legal support to individual organisations fighting the corruption and waging battles for the people,” the resolution added.
