NEWS ROUND-UP-5

Claiming false and baseless propaganda, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh expressed sadness over the fake news, recently carried by several media organisations on Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat. RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya, in a statement issued in New Delhi on March 4, condemned the irresponsible act of the media to defame the head of the organisation.

“Referring to the honourable Supreme Court, certain media organisations on February 29 started a false propaganda against Dr Mohanrao Bhagwatji, Sarsanghachalak of the RSS. This was a totally false and baseless propaganda. The news was flashed under headlines “Supreme Court raps RSS Chief” and Supreme Court kee Sangh Pramukh ko phatkaar. During the hearings in the Supreme Court there was not even a mention of the name of RSS Sarsanghachalak Dr Mohanrao Bhagwatji. In fact, the honourable Supreme Court took cognisance and intervened on this news broadcast, it was promptly taken off-air by the news channels and media organisations. It was the responsibility of these same media organisations to broadcast a clarification accepting their error, which they failed to do. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has always respected the honourable Supreme Court and will continue to do so. Similarly, the RSS also respects the freedom and independence of the media organisations. Yet the practice of disseminating news by certain media groups even before they could verify the underlying truth is sad and highly deplorable,” the statement said.
