First State convention of ‘Saksham’ in Patna?

$img_titleFirst state convention of ‘Saksham’, the leading organisation dedicated to the cause of visually challenged people, was organised in Patna on February 19. A total of 155 delegates from different parts of the State participated in the meeting. A day before the meeting a procession was taken out on February 18. The convention was presided over by State president Shri Aniruddha Mishra.

Inaugurating the convention Shri Nand Kishore Yadav, Surface Transport Minister in the State government, said the society should come forward to make the visually challenged people able. National organising secretary Dr Kamalesh Kumar said different-abled people are not burden on the family and they can greatly contribute in the development of the nation if provided opportunities and are made self-reliant.

Labour Minister of Bihar Shri Janardan Singh Sigriwal reiterated the commitment of the State government to make Bihar handicapped-free State. He said the differently-able people would definitely play a vital role in the development of the State. National general secretary of ‘Saksham’ Shriram Gupta said the organisation has declared the year 2012-13 as handicapped empowerment year and many activities would be conducted throughout the year.
