Sonia stooge or civil rights activist? Team Anna exposes Agnivesh

ANNA Hazare has won, but there were people around him who tried their best to ensure that his agitation proves to be a failure. Swami (?) Agnivesh tops the list of such elements. How deeply he was conspiring against the agitation was exposed by his conversation allegedly with Congress leader Kapil Sibal over phone. Describing Anna team a ‘mad elephant’, he advised Sibal not to bow before Anna, rather act tough. He tells Sibal that ‘Anna is crossing the limits and is trying to climb on the government’s head, which is not tolerable’.

An insider who leaked information

This video clip proves beyond any doubt that Agnivesh was supplying all vital information from Anna camp to Congress leaders. This is the reason why dialogue between Anna and the government could begin only after one week of the fast. Though, on seventh day itself Agnivesh had started predicting that ‘the fast will prove to be a failure’, he came out openly against Anna on the tenth day. “Anna’s way of working is dictatorial. If you do not accept his decision, you are told to stay out of the group. He should have ended his fast yesterday (August 25) itself,” Agnivesh told mediapersons on August 26. He also expressed reservations on the means of protest adopted by the team Anna, saying “such steps posed a serious threat to parliamentary democracy in India”.

Alleged betrayal of Anna

When caught red handed talking to Sibal, Agnivesh first tried to term the video clip as ‘doctored and manipulated’. Then he said he was talking to ‘one Swami Kapilji in Haridwar and not Kapil Sibal’. But when Swami Kapil on record denied talking to Agnivesh for months, he took a U-turn and said ‘I have many friends known as Kapil’. On August 30, he took another U-turn and claimed that ‘the video was a prank played by a private television channel with alleged RSS links.

Anna’s key team member Kiran Bedi reacted very strongly over this video clip. She accused Agnivesh of being ‘absolutely unethical’ and said ‘he not only betrayed the agitation but also stabbed Anna from back’. Arvind Kejariwal, another key member of Anna team, said ‘after this incident we have snapped all ties with Agnivesh’. Sources close to Anna said Agnivesh ditched him during the previous fast also at Jantar Mantar in April. That is why he was deliberately kept away from strategy formulation. In fact, this time also Agnivesh wanted to play as double agent. Meanwhile, Arya Samaj workers also staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on August 29 demanding arrest of Agnivesh for betraying Anna.

Ditched Baba Ramdev too

Gandhian Anna Hazare is not the first victim of Agnivesh’s devil mentality. He is habitual of cheating people who come to his contact. In June this year, yoga guru Baba Ramdev also suffered heavily due to the company of this man. It is now clear that Agnivesh had joined Baba Ramdev’s agitation also as a Congress agent, so that he could supply strategic information to the government. He is such a dangerous companion who, later, did not even hesitate to justify the brutal police action against Ramdev’s supporters at midnight of June 4 in Ramlila Maidan. “What wrong has the government done to Baba Ramdev? The government fulfilled its promise. It engaged in dialogue with him. Senior leaders went to the Airport to receive him. Was it not a huge honour?” Agnivesh told Asian News International (ANI) on August 26.

A Congress mole?

Agnivesh has always been a Congress stooge that infilterates any movement that could pose threat to Congress Party, particularly the Sonia dynasty, to destabilise or sabotage it, and to keep the Congress Party informed of plans of the movement. Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and many other senior Congress leaders attended his functions many times. Dehli BJP president Vijendra Gupta has demanded a judicial probe into the conspiracy hatched by Agnivesh and Congress leader Kapil Sibal to defame Anna and Ramdev’s agitations.

Called Amarnath Yatra ‘a fraud’

The list of Agnivesh’s anti-India and anti-Hindu misdeeds is endless. On May 18 this year, he called the holy Amarnath Yatra ‘a fraud in the name of religion’. “Shivling in Amarnath is a natural process, which should not be connected with religion. I don’t understand why people go to Amarnath? It is a total fraud in the name of religion,” he said enjoying biryani with hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Srinagar.

These remarks received sharp reaction from the devotees of Baba Amarnath. A saint, Mahant Nityanand Das who is also chief of a temple near Nadiad, slapped him at a function in Ahmedabad on May 26. Mahant Nityanand also pulled his turban. The same Mahant had earlier announced a ‘reward’ of Rs 51,000 for anyone who would dare to hurl a shoe at Agnivesh in public. “Religion does not need logic to make one believe and in all faiths we have stories which can be questioned and doubted. We have stories in Islam and Christianity also about great floods. Now if one wants one can question the story and there would be loads of questions if we go by logic. If Agnivesh finds no logic behind worshiping Shivaling can he explain the logic behind stoning the devil during Haj,” asks Vinay Arya, secretary of Delhi Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha.

Arya Samaj ditched, alleged land grabs

Agnivesh has been a complete non-reliable person. Expelled from Arya Samaj in 1974 for his anti-Arya Samaj activities, he is alleged to be a money hungry person. By forming a fake Arya Samaj body, he allegedly captured huge property of Arya Samaj including the Sarvadeshik Bhawan at Asaf Ali Road in New Delhi and the Janata Party office at Jantar Mantar. “This man has nothing to do with Arya Samaj. Please don’t call him an Arya Samaj sannyasi at all, as he has been working against the principles of Arya Samaj itself. He is playing in political hands against Hindus. Describing Mahrishi Manu ‘anti-national and enemy of the society’ he fought a case in Rajasthan High Court to remove his statute from the Court premises. The matter is still pending before a full bench of Rajasthan High Court,” says Prakash Arya, national secretary of Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha.

Elaborating on the frauds Agnivesh has committed to capture the Sarvadeshik Sabha Bhavan in Delhi, Shri Vinay Arya pointed out that the fake Sarvadeshik Pratinidhi Sabha that he formed had the members like Sadiq Bhai, Mohammad Azij, JE John etc. “How can a Muslim or Christian be Arya Samaji?” asks Shri Vinay Arya. In his bid to grab the property of Arya Samaj, he reportedly had full backing of Congress and CPM leaders.

Defending conversion activities of Graham Staines

Australian missionary Graham Staines was a great personality in the eyes of Agnivesh and he had condemned his killings in strongest words. He attended the condolence meetings of Staines who was killed in January 1999 in Orissa for his conversion activities. Vigorously campaigning against Staines murder, he even praised Straines wife Gladys for her ‘spirituality’. But he did not say even a single word against the brutal killing of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati. He did not forget to condemn the backlash developed after the killing of Swami Laxmananand in Kandhmal district and compared the backlash with Gujarat riots of 2002. “By doing it, he impressed the Pope and Smt Sonia Gandhi so much that the Pope personally wished him and Sonia Gandhi felicitated him with Rajiv Gandhi Communal Harmony Award in 2004,” says Shri Prakash Arya.

Criticised court verdict on Godhra

During the Gujarat riots Agnivesh campaigned against Hindus and openly fought for the cause of Muslim rioters. He described the recent court verdict sentencing 11 persons to the gallows and 20 others to life imprisonment in the Godhra train-burning incident as a “hollow case based on dubious evidence”. “The whole verdict appears to be weak as it is based on dubious evidence of a single person,” he told IANS.

Maoist and advocate of their heinous crimes

Agnivesh’s love for Maoists needs no elaboration. He mediated many times between the government and the Maoists. Whenever there is crackdown on Maoists he immediately starts talking about ceasefire. He makes a hue and cry without fail when a Maoist is killed by the security forces but keeps a mum when the Maoists kill the security persons or innocent people. It is to express their anguish over this attitude of Agnivesh that some villagers on March 26 this year threw eggs, hurled abuses, pulled him out of his car, pushed around and forced to return as he was proceeding towards Tadmetla near Chintalnar where the security forces had allegedly set more than 100 houses ablaze following the death of their three colleagues in an encounter with Maoists on March 14.

Agnivesh met Maoist leaders Kobad Ghandy lodged in Tihar jail and Narayan Sanyal in Raipur Central Jail in the last week of May 2010. He enjoyed close relations with many Naxalite leaders. On November 12, 2010 he demanded a high level judicial probe into the so-called fake encounter of Maoist leader Azad alias Cherukuri Rajkumar. He also raised concern against the Chattisgarh High Court’s decision rejecting the bail plea of Maoist supporter Binayak Sen, who was convicted for life imprisonment. He went on to demand India’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, for Binayak Sen in February this year.

Keeping in view Agnivesh’s close relations with Maoists, many people including All India Anti-Terrorist Front Chief Maninderjeet Singh Bitta, Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad spokesman Baba Hathyogi and others had cautioned Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev to maintain a distance from this person. But they ignored those appeals. What happened then is known to all.

Advocacy of gays and lesbians

Agnivesh skips no opportunity to weaken the society. When Delhi High Court, on July 2, 2009, legalised gay sex among consenting adults, he welcomed the decision. He not only thanked the judge for delivering the judgement, but also demonstrated at many places for the rights of the gays, lesbians and those living together without marriage. “Law should have no right to interfere in the bedroom of an individual,” he said.

Liaison with separatists

Government has been fully aware of the anti-India activities of Agnivesh but it always preferred to look the other way. On August 31, 2010 he visited Srinagar where he, along with separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, demanded demilitarisation of Kashmir and repealing of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act. He said the Indian security forces were killing innocent people in Kashmir for demanding their inalienable right to self-determination. “It seems that a conspiracy has been hatched to carry out systematic genocide of Kashmiris,” he said at a dharna organised at Sheri-Kashmir Park in Srinagar the same day. He also lashed out at New Delhi for labelling Kashmiris as ‘terrorists and Pakistani agents’. “Kashmiri youth need love, not the bullets. We need to understand that freedom is inalienable human right and government cannot muzzle voices of Kashmiris by force,” he said adding that “he did not like the name separatists for pro-freedom leaders of Kashmir”. During that visit he did not say even a single word for lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to migrate from the Valley by these separatists and are now languishing in different parts of the country.

The ‘social activities’ of Agnivesh, being carried out under the banner of Bandhua Mukti Morcha and some other NGOs have also been in controversy. It is alleged that he regularly extort money from the factories and brick field owners of Faridabad and other areas by intimidating them to frame in child labour cases. A fraud was reported in Delhi also in which his Bandhua Mukti Morcha misused Rs 18 lakh provided by the Government of Delhi for conducting a survey of bonded labour in Dehli. Now CAG is going to probe this scandal.

Spreading disaffection to national song

Addressing a three-day conference of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in Deoband on November 3, 2009, Agnivesh instigated Muslims not to recite national song Vande Mataram. In that rally he also said, “Islam stands for peace and brotherhood and there cannot be a bigger lie than saying that Muslims are terrorists.” Later, this conference passed a resolution urging Muslims not to sing Vande Mataram. Agnivesh claims to be a Hindu saint, but his appearance and misdeeds indicate that he is an agent of anti-Hindu forces. He also defamed Hinduism abroad. As far as his saffron robes and his ‘swami’ title go, he appears to be as spiritual as Sonia Maino is Indian.
