SWADESHI Jagran Manch (SJM) organised a three-day camp for their activists in Ujjain from June 3 to 5. A total of 107 activists participated in the camp. Addressing the workers joint convenor Dr Bhagwati Prasad Sharma said the Swadeshi movement is relevant not only for Bharat but for the entire humanity. He said we shall be able to protect our cultural values, traditions, cottage industries, etc. only if we are self-reliant in all fields. He said the way multinational companies are being allowed in different sectors has posed a bigger threat before the local companies. He pointed out that around 67,000 multinational companies of 24 countries are active in India today and they are conspiring to grab our entire economy.
Akhil Bharatiya Sangathak Shri Kashmiri Lal said the foundation of our decentralised economy is agriculture and retail trade but unfortunately now all these have become the target of multinational companies. He said if there is foreign investment in retail trade, it would pose a major threat to employment. Dr Ashwini Mahajan said both the agriculture and retail trade have equal contribution to GDP. He pointed out that the government is making all out efforts to allow entry of MNCs into the retail trade which would prove disastrous. Noted economist Dr Rampratap Gupta and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Raghunandan Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
