VETERAN BJP leader Shri Padmanabha Acharya was felicitated on his 80th birth anniversary at a special function organised in Mumbai on December 23, 2010. The function, held at Vasant Smriti Sabhagriha, Dadar, was largely attended by his admirers, well-wishers from the Sangh associated organisations, BJP, Mumbai University Campus, educational and social institutions, etc.
RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat was the chief guest on the occasion. He presented a shawl, an idol of Lord Ganesha and bouquet to Shri Acharya and his wife Smt Kavita. Among the other prominent personalities who were also presented on dais included RSS Akhil Bharatiya Pracharak Pramukh Shri Madan Das, BJP MP Shri Bal Apte, Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly Shri Eknath Khadse, Mumbai BJP president Shri Raj Purohit and convener of the function Shri Dilip Paranjape.
Shri Mohan Bhagwat praised Shri Acharya for his selfless and untired services to the nation. He specially mentioned his work in Vanvasi areas of Arunachal, Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and Meghalaya. He wished him long life and good health.
The well-wishers of Shri Acharya gave him standing ovation as their mark of respect and appreciation for the kind of services he delivered during the last 60 years of his life. Shri Suresh Sathe proposed a vote of thanks while Shri Raj Purohit felicitated all dignitaries on the dais and delivered introductory speech. RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, senior Sangh Pracharaks Shri Sureshrao Ketkar, Shrikant Joshi, BJP leader Shri Ram Naik and Smt. Jaywantiben Mehta were also present on the occasion.
