“THE problems that the world is facing today are basically man-made. Material progress is necessary but it should be within the limits. Hindutva represents the balanced lifestyle that the world needs today,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat. He was releasing a book, Hindutva and National Renaissance, written by former Union Minister and Janata Party president Dr Subramanian Swamy in New Delhi on December 20. Swami Dayananda Saraswati of Arsh Vidyagurukulam, former RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri KS Sudarshan and VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal were also present on the occasion. The book has been published by Har-Anand Publication, New Delhi.

Addressing a distinguished gathering Shri Bhagwat further said Hindutva cannot be segregated from national renaissance as it is the identity of this nation and it is also a treasure for the world. He called upon the countrymen to create a model of the holistic development that the world required today. Coming down heavily on those who criticise Hindutva he said unlike other practices which consider only themselves supreme, Hindutva believes in respecting all the faiths and believes in taking everyone along. He called upon the countrymen to follow this broad meaning of Hindutva in practical life.

Describing Hindutva as value of life he said the fast we realise this truth, the better will be for entire Bharat and the world. “With the passing of time the truth is automatically coming out. Those who opposed Hindutva with baseless arguments are getting exposed. It is time we should work together keeping aside all the differences,” he emphasised. Referring to Dr Swamy’s book, he said it should not be perceived as propaganda, but as a research. He said Dr Swamy has attempted to define the term Hindutva and place it in context with the current world order.

Swami Dayananda Saraswati said Dr Swamy has thoroughly dealt with what is real meaning of Hindutva and those who are ruling the country should know it. “It is time for Hindus in Bharat to realise that they are Hindus. It is necessary for the betterment of Bharat also,” he said. Coming down heavily on those who question the Hindutva he said: “In which culture money (Lakshmi) and book (Saraswati) are treated as goddesses? Despite this much rich traditions some people still say there was no civilisation in India in ancient time. Basically, Hindutva is the requirement of all today,” he said.

Former RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri KS Sudarshan said there have been sustained attempts to paint Hindutva as communal but fact is that Hindutva has never been communal. He said it is the way of life that believes in live and let live.

VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal described Hindutva as the very soul of Bharat. “Unfortunately those who are ruling the country today do not understand it. If they are not aware of the identity and soul of the nation how can they lead the nation to progress,” he asked adding that there are sustained efforts to destroy the identity and hit the soul of the country. India is a spiritual state and this is what we can give to the distressed world today, he said adding that the issues that Pt Deendayalji left unfinished have now been taken up by Dr Subramanian Swamy in his book. He said there is no power on the earth which can stop the renaissance of Hindutva.

Introducing his book Dr Swamy said he was questioned by the academia about the choice of including the word “Hindutva” in the title itself. He said there is a need to create greater public awareness about the word and what it denotes. “Renaissance is renewal in modern form and many thinkers have spoken about renaissance and Hindutva together. India is still looked at for spiritual awakening and foreign nationals still throng to India for seeking peace and ways to be happy,” he said, adding that Hindutva needs to be translated into various aspects. In his book Dr Swamy has dealt with Hindutva in context with national security and commerce.
