CITY of Thieves by Cyrus Moore is a novel based on the contemporary finance world. Cheating, manipulating, stomping on others’ fortunes and using every mean trick in the trade to reach the top – these are the emotions that dominate the men in this world. Caught in this world and trying to survive and uphold ‘old world’ values like honesty and integrity are two men – Jack and Nic, who grew up together and are like brothers. Jack is found dead in a swimming pool one day and Nic knows for sure that it is not suicide. Even as he is coming to terms with Jack’s death, his job is threatened by Larry the manipulator, who had taken away Jack’s wife. The book takes the reader through the complicated world of money dealings and the investigative agencies. A determined Nic is set on proving the innocence of Jack. Because he had vowed to their sensei that they would always live and die honourably, that they would both protect the honour of each other. The suspense on the success of Nic is held almost till the end. Incidentally, Nic is half Indian, his mother is an Italian. The author’s real name is Cyrus Mewawala, a leading City analyst. He is acknowledged as a telecom analyst and lives in London.
