THE latest book by Stephenie Meyer The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, is a first person account of a character introduced in Eclipse -a new-born vampire named Bree Tanner. She is picked up from the streets and is transformed into a vampire. But a series of misfortunes finally kill her off. The story narrates how Bree explores the world with her superhuman gifts as a vampire and above all, her everlasting thirst for blood.
Bree doesn’t know who to trust and what to believe. And as the unforgettable battle of the newborns vs. the Cullens draws near she must be brave and must explore every facet of the newborn world to survive till the gory end of Eclipse. The story also reveals an agenda of the Voulturi against Cullens.
Stephenie exploits every aspect of her morbidity as she places herself in the mind of a being that regards humans a little more than dinner. Overall the book is quite enjoyable but it tends to get rather sketchy. All Bella fans will be disappointed though as there is almost no mention of her. Still, as a sequel to Twilight it won’t disappoint.
