THE scorching summer of Nagpur and blistering Sun do not deter them from their commitment to the cause i.e. devotion to the ideology and dedication to the motherland. The 881 swayamsevaks drawn from all over the country and currently undergoing rigorous training at the summer training camp of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at historic Reshim Bagh grounds display the same spirit of commitment and dedication to the cause.
Their day begins at 4.00 in the morning and ends at 10.00 at night keeping them engaged in various physical and intellectual exercises aimed at consolidating their commitment to the long-cherished objective of taking Bharatmata to the highest pinnacle of glory it enjoyed once in the past.
The RSS has evolved a three-year training programme for its swayamsevaks. The first two years training is imparted to them at the State or zone levels. However, the Third Year training becomes a very special kind of training as very seasoned workers are expected here to participate and some of them volunteer to devote their time for the work of the organisation as fulltime Pracharak.
Interacting with a group of visiting journalists from Nagpur, Shri Ashok Sohoni, Karyavah of the training camp-Sangh Shiksha Varg, as it is christened in RSS parlance-and Akhil Bharatiya Bauddhik Pramukh Shri Bhagaiya informed that since the past some years the response to Sangh work is growing in the society. Especially, among the youths who are generally careerist in nature, the Sangh ideology has found many a takers. In cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad etc. which are known as IT hubs, the IT professionals are actively participating in the RSS shakhas.
Shri Bhagaiyaji refuted the impression that the influence and response to RSS shakhas was on the wane. Instead, he said, there has been 47,000 shakhas going on all over the country daily and to add to this there are monthly congregations, he added. In Kerala, there has been tremendous response to the Sangh work and this was reflected during the Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat’s tour in April when one lakh swayamsevaks in uniform attended the ever largest RSS congregation in the country.
The RSS is becoming a point of attraction among the highly educated class of the society and recently in Bengaluru itself 11 engineers got relieved themselves from their jobs to devote to the RSS work, Shri Bhagaiya said.
Varg Karyavah Shri Ashok Sohoni said that 881 swayamsevaks from all the 39 Prants are participating in the Nagpur camp. The highest 60 participants are from Mahakoshal area. Kerala is just one behind them with 59 swayamsevaks. The state-wise number includes Kerala (59), South Tamil Nadu (30), North Tamil Nadu (10), South Karnataka (26), North Karnataka (23), West Andhra (40), East Andhra (20), Konkan (12), West Maharashtra (15), Deogiri (8), Gujarat (28), Vidarbha), Madhya Bharat (30), Malwa (40), Mahakaushal (60), Chhattisgarh (21), Chittor (25), Jaipur (23), Jodhpur (16), Delhi (19), Haryana (17), Punjab (8), Himachal Pradesh (13), Jammu & Kashmir (10), Uttaranchal 30), Meerut (35), Brij (38), Kanpur (22), Avadh (12) Kashi (37), Gorakhpur (17) North Bihar (10), South Bihar (10) Jharkhand (15), Uttkal (26) South Bengal (18), North Bengal (11), North Assam) (11) and South Assam (11).
This year the training camps for First and Second year are being organised at 42 and 14 places all over the country, respectively. Besides, the very special camps for those above 40 years of age are being organised at 14 places. In the Nagpur camp, swayamsevaks speaking 19 tongues are participating and 150 Shikshaks (teachers) are there to impart training to them in various disciplines of the Sangh ideology. The category wise distribution of swayamsevaks is-teachers- 172, employed in various jobs-140, self-employed-132, farmers-77, advocates-23, doctors/engineers-6 each, journalists-4, CA-1 and others-2.
Senior RSS functionaries like former Sarsanghachalak Shri KS Sudarshan, Shri Ranga Hari, Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, Shri Indresh Kumar, Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi and others visited the camp to guide the participants. Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohanrao Bhagwat will be reaching Nagpur to guide the swayamsevaks in the camp during the first week of June.
The camp will formally conclude on June 7, 2010. Former Assam Cabinet Secretary Shri JP Rajkhowa will be the chief guest at the concluding function.
An impressive pathsanchalan was taken out on May 22 from the main thoroughfares of Nagpur. Sarvadhikari Shri Darshan Lal Arora, Shri KS Sudarshan, Varg Karyavah Shri Ashok Sohoni and Nagpur Mayor Smt Archana Dehankar watched the pathsanchalan near the house of the RSS founder Dr Keshavrao Hedgewar.
