NOTED writer, professor and journalist Dr Gauri Nath Rastogi passed away in Lucknow Medical College on April 4 after an illness. He was paid tribute by hundreds of senior people and his admirers in Lucknow. They included Kshetra Pracharak Shri Shivnarayan, Dr Shivkumar Asthana, Shri Hridyanarayan Shrivastava, Shri Janardanrao Paugi etc.
Born on September 12, 1934 Dr Rastogi went to jail during the Satyagraha in 1948 and was also in jail for 19 months during the Emergency. He retired as Principal of Kaithal PG College in 1996. He wrote more than 2200 articles and presented his research papers in 22 seminars. He also authored and edited 21 books. Dr Rastogi was also Sangh Pracharak for ten years in Shahjahanpur and Bareilly.
Lucknow Vishwa Samvad Kendra organised a condolence meeting on April 5 in which many senior writers and journalists were present. Prominent among those who paid tribute at the condolence meeting included Vibhag Sanghachalak Shri Jaikrishna Sinha, joint organising secretary of Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh Shri Ompal Singh, national executive member of BJP Shri HN Dixit, Shri Shivkamal Asthana, Shri Nandkishor Shrivastava, Shri Chandra Prakash Agnihotri and others.
