It was the first programme of Shri Mohan Rao Bhagwat in Shimla after assuming the charge of Sarsanghachalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The speech and body language of Shri Bhagwat showed his determination and was so impressive that many non sympathisers of RSS had to say, “He came, he saw and he conquered.” The large ground of Himachal Tourism’s hotel, Peter Hoff on October 8, was full of swayamsevaks and other citizens.
Shri Mohan Bhagwat’s main focus was that the existence of India is necessary for the world peace and prosperity of all humans and to achieve this goal, the existence of Hindutva is essential. He said, “The world is facing a very tough time and the repercussions of globalisation and the Semitic principle of non tolerance of others have posed a great threat before the very existence of humanity. In this situation the solution lies only in the age old traditions of Hindutva i.e. coexistence, respect to all faiths and harmony with nature. The day will certainly come when India will be leading the community of nations in every field following the path of Hindutva.”
Shri Tilak Raj Mahajan, former Director General of Police of Himachal Pradesh presided over the function. An impressive path sanchalan of swayamsevaks was also conducted through the roads and streets of this hill town. Swayamsevaks from Shimla, Solan and Bilaspur districts participated in the function.
Sarsanghachalak said, “It has been very difficult to understand the RSS. There are thousands of organisations in the world but ours has no similarity with them. If one wants to understand it, he or she needs to come close and join it. It is open to all without discrimination of caste, creed or way of worship. It is the only organisation that prepares a huge selfless workforce dedicated to the cause of the nation, through its shakhas.”
According to him, the contemporary world is facing many challenges and globalisation is one of them. The super powers want to control the world through it. In fact, it is a sort of monopoly and a huge threat to poor nations.
Expressing his serious concern over the increasing tendency of intolerance towards others’ faith, belief, language and origin, Shri Bhagwat said it has posed a huge threat to peace and harmony in the world. Religious conversions are the result of this very thinking. He said diversity is a natural phenomenon and efforts to paint the world in a single colour is condemnable. It is only Hindutva that believes that all religions of the world are true and one can achieve his or her goal by adopting any way of worship. That is the reason Hindus never tried to convert the followers of other faiths. Conversions are nothing but a method to spread imperialism.
According to him, in the age old Indian traditions, respect to the nature and environment has always been dominant. It is said in our scriptures that man should exploit the natural resources as per his need not the greed. But in the name of modernity, indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources is being carried out world over and the result is before us. Now all are making hue and cry on the problem of climate change. The basic purpose of the development of science was to increase comfort and peace for human race and we see it is badly defeated. Human beings are openly using it for their greed.
The RSS Chief also ridiculed the political parties, their leaders and the governments for their misdeeds and said the people, now, have little hope from them. Musclemen and criminals are dominating the political system and the main casualty is common person and the interest of the nation. In the present circumstances, people are disappointed and demoralised. But the swayamsevaks have not left the hope as they know that the work of RSS to unite the society would yield results one day. And to achieve this goal, lakhs of swayamsevaks are working across the country in snowbound mountains, deserts, dense forests and other far flung areas. They focus on the basic principles of Hindutva as it is the only solution to all problems of contemporary India and the world.
He emphasised that the RSS had been founded not only to preserve but to propagate the principles of Hindutva and since 1925, it was doing selfless service to the nation and the humanity. He categorically stated, “The RSS is not against anybody. We are neither a threat for anybody nor afraid of anybody. We believe in the principle of non violence but we can’t tolerate to be bullied. Our efforts are to make India powerful, prosperous and protector of world peace.”
Earlier, former DGP of the State Shri Tilak Raj Mahajan in his presidential address said that the RSS is doing selfless service to the nation by inculcating patriotism through its actions among the fellow countrymen and is indulged in the significant task of nation building. It is the only hope, in the present scenario, for the country, he added.
Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, Shri Ravinder Ravi, IPH Minister, Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Jai Ram Thakur and State BJP president, Shri Khimi Ram were among the distinguished guests who were present on the occasion. Cabinet ministers Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda and Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Chairman of HIMUDA Shri Ganesh Dutt and many MLAs participated in pathsanchalan in Ganavesh (the uniform of the RSS).
