National executive member of RSS Shri Ram Madhav asserted that India has little understanding of Chinese intentions and that country’s affairs. Delivering the keynote address at a seminar organised by Dehradun Mahanagar unit of RSS he said India ought to develop a better understanding of Chinese mindset and have a long-term strategy to deal with it.

Shri Madhav felt that India has learnt to ‘somewhat’ handle Pakistan, but is yet to learn how to handle China. China, if needed to be remembered, is not only a difficult neighbour but also a different one.

He stated that during his recent tour of China, he interacted freely with Chinese leaders and scholars and was surprised to know their views on the subject. The Chinese told him that there was no violation by the Chinese on the border as there was no border between India and China. China did not recognise the McMahon Line and, therefore, claimed that there was no defined border. The Indians also crossed over, they submitted. “When asked why China not made an issue of this, they responded that this was a small matter for them and they did not wish to spoil their relations with India,” Shri Madhav disclosed and pointed out how difficult it was to deal with a neighbour like this.
