Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya was paid rich tribute on his ninety-third birth anniversary on September 25. A function was held in Dehradun by Deendayal Upadhyaya Sewa Pratishthan. Addressing the gathering State Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhariyal ‘Nishank’ announced a grant of Rs 21 lakh for the establishment of Deendayal Upadhyaya Shodh Sansthan near Deendayal Park in Dehradun. He also informed that all the educational institutions of the State have been directed to observe Deendayal Jayanti on September 25 every year. The Pratishthan will set up the Shodh Sansthan.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Nishank said, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya worked throughout his life for the welfare of downtrodden. He said in the present times where every one is running after materialistic things and has no time to think for humanity, it is essential to be reminded of such a great person who set examples to be followed by the present generation. Shri Nishank reminded the gathering that the Government was running several important programmes and schemes named after Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya. Deendayal EMRI 108 Ambulance Service had so far helped more than one lakh persons in the State.

Former Chief Minister Nityanand Swami said Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya was an idealist personality and a very able person. Everyone ought to emulate his values and actions.

Former State BJP president Shri Bachi Singh Rawat said the country ought to follow the path shown by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya in order to create a better world. Newly appointed State BJP president Shri Bishan Singh Chufal said the BJP Government is committed towards adopting and implementing the thoughts of Deendayalji into action.

Mayor of Dehradun Shri Vinod Chamoli said Deendayal Upadhyaya had dreamt of reaching out to the last person of the society and ensuring quality and dignity of life for every person. He said that regularisation of slums would be a right step in this direction. He also stressed on the need to strengthen and empower the urban local bodies.
