“Social commitment is essential for those who pursue the legal education. The recommendations of the expert committee to revamp legal education have given undue importance to globalisation. It will only promote selfishness in the minds of students,” said Justice (retd) KP Radhakrishna Menon. He was inaugurating a seminar organised by the Ernakulam Law College unit of ABVP to discuss the recommendations submitted by the expert committee on September 11.
National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) vice-chancellor Shri NK Jayakumar said the changes in syllabus recommended by the expert committee could be welcomed as it would increase the number of working days in colleges. “However, the recommendation for a board of legal education cannot be accepted at this point of time,” he said. CUSAT dean and head of Law Department Shri Leelakrishnan and Thrissur Law College principal Shri AS Saroja also spoke on the occasion.
