Sanskar Bharati meeting in Gangtok

In order to bring the north-eastern states of the country into mainstream through art, the Sanskar Bharati organised a four day meeting in Gangtok from August 13 to 16. A total of 45 delegates from different parts of the country participated in the meeting. The meeting was part of the Sanskar Bharati’s ‘Poorvottar Drishti 2010 project’. Deputy Speaker of Sikkim Assembly Shri MV Dahas said our culture is our identity and it must be preserved. Presiding over the inaugural ceremony Shri Chunilal Bemo stressed the need to connect the young generation with the traditional culture. Sanskar Bharati Natya Pramukh Shri Vimal Lath spoke about the activities of Sanskar Bharati and pointed out that the Poorvottar Drishti project was envisaged in 2006 to protect the cultural identity of the north-eastern states. Under this project the artists of the region have to be promoted. Dr Krishan Gopal said the Sanskar Bharati was working to revive the cultural flow that was damaged by the Britishes. He also hoisted the tricolour on August 15. Shri Amirchand, joint organising secretary of Sanskar Bharati, said the art has the capacity to unite the whole nation and efforts must be made in this regard.  (FOC)
