Senior journalist and editor of Kannada daily Hosadigantha Shri DG Laxman will be honoured with NB Lele Award for the year 2009. The award that consists of cash prize of Rs 51,000, a memento, citation and shawl, will be presented by Rashtriya Patrakarita Kalyan Nyas, New Delhi. Last year the award had been presented to Shri Balbir Dutt, editor of Ranchi Express, Ranchi. Rashtriya Patrakarita Kalyan Nyas presents three awards every year. The other two awards are for photographers and woman journalists. This year’s award for photographer will be presented to Shri Prakash Jadhav of Business India. This award consists of cash prize of Rs 21000, a citation, memento and shawl. This award has been instituted in the memory of leading photographer the late Shivram Shankar Apte who was popularly known as Dada Saheb Apte. The third award instituted in the memory of Smt Shantabai Paranjape for woman journalists, will be presented to Smt. Manjari Chaturvedi of Navbharat Times, New Delhi. This award too consists of cash prize Rs 21,000, a memento, citation and a shawl. Last year, this award had been presented to Smt Sunila Sovani. All these awards will be presented at a function to be held in Sholapur, Maharashtra, on August 8.
