In the heavy rains that lashed Allikolli village of Panthalur Block, Niligris District (Tamil Nadu) during the second week of July, nearly 150 houses were surrounded by water. Swayamsevaks immediately rushed to the spot and helped in shifting the marooned villagers to safety. They shifted the affected people to safer places places and accommodated them in schools run by Hindu trusts. The villagers are being taken care of. The relief work is still going on.
