BMS national general secretary K Laxma Reddy demanded the Central Government to provide alternative employment to employees who lost their jobs due to global financial crisis. He was addressing a gathering of BMS workers in Visakhapatnam on June 17. He said the figures shown by the government regarding GDP growth are baseless because they do not reflect the growth in employment. GDP growth should be linked with employment in the present scenario. He emphasised the need to create Workers Bank for the EPF contributors to assist the workers in the period of crisis. He also demanded to establish rural based-agro industries to create more employment in rural areas. Shri GV Sambasiva Rao, state BMS president presented the demands put forward by BMS to Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on June 3. Sri D Ramakrishan Rao, senior Sangh leader, also spoke on the occasion. More than 140 delegates from various unions of Visakhapatnam district attended the meeting. Deputy general secretary Sri I Mutyalu, state secretary S Sitaramayya and general secretary of BPSMM Sri M Jagadiswara Rao also addressed the workers.
