Vishwa Hindu Parishad strongly condemned the curtailing of CRPF rights in Jammu & Kashmir by the National Conference government. In a statement issued on June 13, VHP spokesperson Dr Surendra Jain said the deployment of Kashmir Police in place of CRPF in the State is a step towards handing over the entire Jammu & Kashmir to Pakistan and it would have disastrous consequences. “The influence of terrorists on Kashmir police is known to all. Handing over the security of the State to such forces is like gifting the State to Pakistan. If the Kashmir police is so much reliable it should first be deployed in the security of Union Minister Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Umar Abdullah in place of the central forces. The step will increase the opposition against the central forces in Kashmir and it may become difficult for the central security agencies to stay there. It is a conspiracy to implement the agenda of the separatists,” the statement said.

Shri Jain alleged that the permission of open trade with Pakistan through J&K had been granted last year under the pressure of certain terrorist leaders. “The apprehensions expressed at that time are now being proved correct. It is now open smuggling in the guise of free trade there. The VHP demands the central government to immediately review this policy and ignoring the pressure of the National Conference must withdraw this permission,” the statement added.
