A high level delegation of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat-led by its Delhi unit head Sardar Ujagar Singh submitted a memorandum to United Nations Organisation office in New Delhi on May 15. The delegation apprised the UN representative of the plights of Sikhs in the areas of Pakistan under Taliban control. Shri Ujagar Singh made it clear that the Sikh Sangat did not wish to interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan yet the financial and the emotional torture of Sikhs in Pakistan has compelled it to visit to UNO.
The delegation demanded that a team of UNO should investigate into the matter and thereafter an amount of help should be given to them. “In case, Pakistanis are unable to take care of the Sikh affairs the UN should send a peace-keeping force,” he added. Smt. Harjeet Kaur, vice president of Delhi Sikh Sangat informed that the special care should be taken of the Sikhs who in spite of large scale massacre of 1947, still preferred to stay in Pakistan and made it their home.
