Alleging that the Government of Pakistan failed to protect the non-Muslims from the atrocities of Talibans, the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat threatened to approach the United Nations Organisation (UNO) for the protection of Sikhs in Orakzai region of Pakistan. Sikh Sangat Konkan Prant president Sardar Samsher Singh said it in Mumbai on May 5. Warning the Government of Pakistan to ensure security of the non-Muslims, Shri Singh pointed out that the Sikh Sangat would also approach the 192 delegate countries of UNO requesting them to intervene in the matter.
Shri Rajan Khanna, secretary of the Sikh Sangat, appealed to the Government of India to put diplomatic pressure on the Government of Pakistan for protection of Sikhs. He pointed out that about 400 Sikh families in Pakistan had already paid over Rs 50 crore as jazia to Talibans and despite that they have ruined their entire business. He said more than 200 Sikh families are living as refugees in the Gurudwara of Rawalpindi, and they are not safe there too.
