Noted writer, educationist, poet and leading Sanskrit scholar Acharya Ramnath Suman passed away on April 15 at Pilkhua in Ghaziabad. He was 83. He had been central secretary of VHP. As the news of Sumanji'spassing away spread many people gathered at his residence. VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal and central secretary Shri Rajendra Pankaj also rushed to Pilkhua. Prant Prachrak Shri Dineshji, National Executive member of RSS Shri Darshanlal Arora, senior Pracharak Shri Jyotiswaroop, Shri Vijay Juneja, Shri Radhakrishan Manodi and many leaders of VHP, Vidya Bharati and BJP paid tribute. A condolence meeting was organised at VHP headquarters in New Delhi on April 20 by Bharat Sanskrit Parishad to pay tribute to Sumanji. Sumanji had been the national president of Bharat Sanskrit Parishad.

Born on July 20, 1926 at Dhaulana village under Ghaziabad district Sumanji did Master Degree in Sanskrit from Agra University in 1957. He participated in anti-cow slaughter agitation. He taught Hindi and Sanskrit at a school and later became Principal of Rana Shiksha Shivir College. He also wrote textbooks for BA and MA students. He had been a Sangh swayamsevak since his childhood and held various responsibilities in the Sangh and its associated organisations. In 1988 he fully dedicated himself to the VHP. He played a key role in the organisation of Vishwa Veda Sammelan in Prayag. He was honoured as a Sanskrit scholar by the then President of India Dr KR Narayanan and many other eminent people and organisations of the country.
