Rashtriya Sikh Sangat demanded that the anti-Sikh riots accused should be punished as per law. In a statement Sikh Sangat national president Sardar Gurucharan Singh Gill said the way Jagdish Tytler has been given a clean chit by the CBI at the time of general elections, has shaken the trust of the people in the central investigation agency. The way the CBI is acting it truly proves that it is a political tool and is highly dangerous for democracy. He said it is the duty of the court to decide whether the culprit is innocent or guilty. But in this case the CBI itself acted as the judge and gave a clean chit to the culprit outside the court. The statement described it as an attempt by pseudo-secularists to drive a wedge between the Sikhs and the non-Sikhs. It was the vote-bank policy of the pseudo-secularists, which was behind the turmoil in Punjab during the 1980s.
